Originally designed by Ernst Friz in one weight in 1965, Friz Quadrata was among the 15 award winning type face designs in a competition sponsored by Visual Graphics Corporation, who released it in 1966. Victor Caruso added a bold weight for ITC in 1973. Finally, in 1992, Thierry Puyfoulhoux designed italic weights for both the original and bold weights, which were released by ITC in 1994.
