Designed by Willy Schwerdtner and cut by Gustav Eichenauer for Stempel in 1928 in 4 styles. The light weight was carried by Sunity as Kanu Series.
The light weight has been revived by Jim Spiece as Metropolis SG (Spiece Graphics, 2001). There are various digitizations of the heavy cut, including those by Castle Type, Image Club (1995), and Monotype. None of them includes Hohe Metropolis, a variety with elongated caps and ascenders. Castle’s and Monotype’s versions include Lichte Metropolis (as Metropolis Shaded).
