Kestrel was originally designed by Alan Meeks in 1984 for Letraset. In 2005, Mickey Rossi created a sloppy and limited digital version and made it available for free as Ballpark Weiner. In 2011, RMU added a more sophisticated version with a wide language support incl. Cyrillics, and named it Falkner Pro. In the same year, Alan Meeks released his own official digitization as Kestrel Script.
