The first issue of Dwiggins’ Metro typeface was more idiosyncratic with forms like a double-story lowercase ‘a’ and ‘g’. These were soon changed in Metro No. 2 to be more like Futura, the main competition at the time. Metro Nova (and to a looser degree, Metro Office) is a digital version that revives these forms.
