Designed by Morris F. Benton in 1916 in two styles, Roman and Italic, both with alternate swash caps and a range of ligatures, “adapted from steel or copperplate engravings, but not completed and released until 1918.” [McGrew 1993]
Digitally revived as Odette (Canada Type, 2004, used for the sample), covering both styles with alternates and ligatures. Society Page NF (Nick’s Fonts, 2009) is another, less extensive interpretation of the Roman. Friendly (Positype, 2012) is a looser homage.
