  1. French car manufacturer Renault commissioned this typeface from the British design firm Wolff Olins in the late 1960s (MyFonts). Other sources give different design dates (Fonts.com: 1968; Devroye: 1972, Elsner+Flake: 1978). It was made available by several manufacturers for various typesetting systems, incl. Autologic, Berthold, Linotype, Scangraphic, Varityper (L. W. Wallis, 1990). There are digital versions by Mecanorma, URW++, Elsner+Flake, and Scangraphic.

In 2004, Jean François Porchez announced Renault Identité, a new bespoke and exclusive typeface that he developed from the Renault wordmark created by Eric de Berranger in 1999.

Earlier this year, Renault yet again introduced a new custom typeface named Renault Life, designed by Fontsmith based on their FS Hackney.
