The initiators of BesserMitfahren.de were fed up with carpooling agencies that charge ripoff fees as high as 11 percent for their complicated, overregulated and ad-loaden services. Offering and finding rides should not be commercialized. On April 1st, they decided it’s time to provide a non-profit and ad-free alternative – free and easy to use for anyone at any time. Six days later, the website for better carpooling launched. Within the first five days, more than 5,000 shared rides have been offered already. For now, the portal is limited to the German-speaking region, but there are plans to extend the better carpooling experience to the whole of Europe.

For the bright visual identity of BesserMitfahren.de, Yanone used his own Antithesis, a yet-to-be-released typeface family consisting of three very different members that started life at Type]Media.
