Elements of Light, the fourth LP of Pantha du Prince, features — apart from a ligature-rich lettering on the front — Radim Peško’s Larish Neue on the inner sleeve. The typeface starts to appear more often nowadays, most notably in the redesign of Die Andere Bibliothek, and still looks fresh. Its edginess goes particularly well with Pantha du Prince’s sometimes ecclectic, yet still very minimal electronic music (that is flavoured here with the characteristic chimes of a Bell Carillon)

  1. I am not really sure about the title letterings origin. Any ideas on a possible font that served as a basis?

  2. Hi Manuel, the lettering on the front cover is part of my personal research on creating letterforms by using a range of different shapes for stenciling type. It is not based on an origin typeface, just made by hand and prepared for printing. Best, Michael
  3. Wow, thanks for clarifying! Dankeschön. And just for the record: no, I don’t judge (and/or buy) records by their fonts in use. (well, sometimes I do)
