The Rockford Files is an American television drama series starring James Garner that aired on the NBC network between September 13, 1974 and January 10, 1980, and has remained in syndication to the present day.

According to IMDB the titles were initially designed by Jack Cole whose other credits include The Six Million Dollar Man and The Virginian. The type is most likely a phototype version of Folio, stretched horizontally. The distinctive ‘G’, ‘Q’, and ‘S’ give it away.

Luc Devroye shows that Folio Bold Extended was used on a variety of Universal Studios productions in the 1960s–70s. Personally, I prefer Information used in Bullitt.
