Loads was a party run by Pleasure Service. Their visual identity was designed by Maciej Połczyński, based on the idea of a strict grid and very spontaneous, dynamic, fluid rearrangeable elements.

The first element was a custom title for the series, set in Nielot. Numerous variants were made. It was to be strong, simple and somehow erotic. The letters created a grid, which influenced the poster and the logotype – a ticket-like dynamic stripe set in a ‘dancing’ version of Figiel and a QR code.

Simple idea. Logo is always on top. Name is always on the bottom. Logotype name is set with Figiel. One is always original width, the others stretch back and forth.

I intended the poster to be just simple blocks of information with a possibility of creating the background decoration by spray-paint, for example. Multiple ideas were designed, like the tape for fast branding. The client ended up with only one party. Perhaps it was legendary.

Figiel is accompanied by an in-progress sans serif, working title Nic.

Future Graphic Language: New Directions In Verbal Communication is a collection of essays that sum up the Future Graphic Language symposium held in 2019 at the Asia and Pacific Museum in Warsaw as part of Future Text.

The book is typeset in typefaces of Le Laïc: Type Foundry: Figiel for headlines and the yet unreleased Kompan for the body of text.

The design aims to celebrate multiple directions of reading and communicating as well as it tries to challenge the traditional way of handling book as an item. Multiple pieces of custom lettering were created for the Future Text project, including an inverted contrast logotype and a variable type header, which were 3D printed. Retor is used for the visual communication fo the symposium.

The book was designed between 2020 to 2021.

Refugees Welcome is an annual young art auction held by the Museum of Modern Art in Warsaw. The identity, printed materials and website were designed by deal design • studio using Fason typeface from Laïc: Type.

The aim of the auction is to support refugees living in Poland. The income from the sale of the works will be allocated to co-finance two programs coordinated by the Ocalenie Foundation. [...]

All the auctioned works were displayed at the pre-auction exhibition at the Museum on the Vistula River in Warsaw. The exhibition took place from April 8 to May 15, 2022, from 12:00 to 19:00. [...]

The Refugees Welcome charity art auction was held on Sunday, 15 May 2022, at 5:00 pm, and the proceeds went to the Ocalenie Foundation. The artists included in the auction may receive 25% of the sale price of their works, but many of them have waived this right, passing on the entire proceeds to the foundation.

Transformations in Typography is a book that encapsulates the written and visual content of three type-centred events which took place throughout the last few years: MOTYF 2016, MOTYF 2018 and Future Text using one, distinct visual language, which subtly refers to the design of the publications documenting the previous editions of Moving Type Festivals, using the similar, bright colour palette and dynamic layout. The inside of the book is supposed to evoke the expressive nature of MOTYF events using a grid that allows for various and exciting spread arrangements yet maintains a sense of integrity throughout the publication – a rhythm and a visual melody that refer to the “moving type” aspect of the book’s content. The publication is set using two contrasting typefaces – one experimental and pushing the boundaries of legibility (Nieuk) and one very classic and harmonious (Skolar) – which allows for a pleasant reading experience as well as a bit of “play” in this text-heavy book.

Olej To are hemp oil gift packs made for Christmas 2021. Warsaw-based Motyw Studio designed and sent these gifts to their friends, colleagues and people they admire. Blef (Le Laïc: Type Foundry, 2020) is used as the display typeface. It’s paired with TWK Lausanne (Weltkern, 2017) for smaller type.

Ryan Spacey, under the creative direction of Jessica Wels (VP of Creative at Sweat Betty), led the visual direction and design for The rē·spin Edit. Developed by Bristish retailer Sweaty Betty in collaboration with Halle Berry’s Rē·spin, the collection combines functional wear and lifestyle pieces. The 22-piece limited-edition collection was inspired by the world of boxing and Japanese jiu-jitsu.

The design includes shop fronts, the VIP gifting experience, POS, lookbooks, and packaging. It uses Iskry by Laïc Type Foundry, paired with Futura (Linotype), the brand’s identity typeface.

The headers are set in Iskry, with Union used for body text.

The auction was conducted by Marcel Andino Velez, longtime deputy director of the Museum of Modern Art in Warsaw, for the second time. The auction catalogue includes 40 works by exceptional Polish and foreign artists. The pre-auction exhibition was held at the Museum of Modern Art at ul. Pańska 3, Warsaw, from 15 to 19 June 2021. The auction itself was held remotely. Bidding was available online, by phone or by submitting fixed instructions with a price limit, with the support of Artinfo, Desa or the Friends of the Museum of Modern Art. There was social media streaming available.

All proceeds from the sale of works was donated to support refugees living in Poland. The Refugees Welcome auction engages artists, art collectors and volunteers every year to help refugees. It is a unique example of solidarity in a difficult time of the pandemic. It proves that we want to do something for others. And thanks to the auction, we can do it in a unique way. Together, we build a new culture of hospitality.

Czytanie Pomorza (Reading the Pomerania) is a literary guidebook with interviews and articles on history, architecture, nature and literary books connected to the area. The series, designed by Michał Pecko, uses Krayewski by Laïc: Type and Object Sans by Pangram Pangram Foundry as the main typefaces.

The Navigator is a Vancouver Island University's Student Press and periodical, writing about recent news, arts, sports, lifestyle, literature and varied featured topics:

For the first time in over 50 years, The Navigator will no longer be physically printed and distributed at the University—instead, the publication has moved online with an immersive and future-forward responsive design.

The new website format comes with a redesign. Logo, headers and main titles are set in Eklektyk by Laïc: Type. The logo uses Eklektyk’s alternative o character (accessible as an OpenType feature). Subheaders and navigation use Obviously from OH no Type Co., and body copy is set in Degular, also available from Oh No Type Co.

Studio Mundial designed identity and packaging for Uruguay-based pizza restaurant Rigor.
The project was created using Nielot, with alternate characters supplied by Laïc: Type. Inside the place, the menu on the wall is set in various weights/widths of Sharp Grotesk.

The project took over 6 months, ranging from the name to wall tiles.

Designed by Berlin-based fertig design studio, the cover as well as posters promoting the release of the book Please Come: Shameless/Limitless Selected Posters 2008–2020 are set in Solenizant Super Ultra by Laic: Type. A bright yellow background is contrasted with big black type and the texture of a poster paste-up. The book interior is set in Spot Mono by Schick Toikka. From fertig design:

Please Come is a 536 page brick of a book featuring 223 concert posters by 130 designers contributing to 12 years of underground music culture under the umbrella of Neukölln-based concert promoter Shameless/Limitless.

Jessica Bayer is a multidisciplinary designer that specializes in creating identities, brand strategy, campaigns, experiences, and more. She graduated from Syracuse University with a B.F.A. in Communications Design and is currently dwelling in New York City. Past clients include JBL, K-Y, Panasonic Avionics, Essie, Samsung, and PepsiCo.

Fan designed by Magdalena Heliasz, published in French by the Adam Mickiewicz Institute to celebrate the 50th anniversary of Witold Gombrowicz’ death. Born in 1904, the Polish writer and playwright died in 1969.

The author of Ferdydurke had an incredible inventive approach to words – the leaflet presents a selection of various phrases present in Gombrowicz’ writings. Arranged to form Gombrowicz surname, they serve as an invitation or teaser to the author’s inspiring books. Archival photographs form the archive of his wife, Rita Gombrowic, were printed on the back of the cards.

The fan was printed in letterpress with silver hotstamping.

“Design Like a Girl” is the name of a series of typographical prints on various clothing (T‑shirts, hoodies) designed and distributed by Martyna Wędzicka–Obuchowicz.

“Design Like a Girl!” is set in the Iskry typeface by Le Laïc: Type Foundry. “Fake it Girl You Make It” uses caps from Pangram Pangram’s Hatton Medium.

Print Control No. 8 – the latest on the thriving Polish print design scene: Print Control is an online platform and annual magazine for promoting Polish design through publishing, exhibitions, and cultural events. In these eight years we have been seeking out the best examples of graphic design and building a comprehensive collection of works.

The goal of this publication is to inspire other creative professionals to think critically about the function of Eastern European design and to explore how good graphic design in Poland has strengthened its presence dramatically over the past years, expanding from a widely deployed tool to a specialized profession. With the rise of innovation in publishing and distribution systems, designers are mobilizing the techniques and processes of design to create and publish visual media in a modern and independent way. At the same time, designers are becoming producers: authors, publishers, instigators, and entrepreneurs employing their creative skills as makers of content and shapers of experience, which highlights the increasingly entrepreneurial nature of designer-produced goods.

The intense fascination with Polish illustration is made evident in the 8th issue of Print Control. In addition to exploring numerous designs – many of which use illustration as a means of expression – the reader will also get to know some illustrators more personally. Ola Niepsuj discusses her professional and exacting approach to work and how she doesn’t shy away from paperwork, while Tomek Opaliński – a talented and hard-working graduate of the Academy of Fine Arts in Warsaw – explains how a simple composition can tell an emotional tale and fulfill various narratives. Jan Bajtlik (who has already made a name for himself as a children's book creator) opens up about his success story, his collaboration with Hermes and how he transplanted his creativity onto French soil. Magdalena Pankiewicz , an illustrator who uses digital tools to impeccably create formal experiments while painting classic portraits, explains the ins and outs of fashion-related illustration, and Michał Loba will charm us with his sense of humor and skillful observation of everyday life – while telling us how he translates the situations he encounters into simple lines and color stains.

Craft Contemporary’s second clay biennial (held January 25, 2020 – September 13, 2020 in Los Angeles, USA):

examines contemporary ceramic practices that start with the human figure as the basis for material and conceptual experimentation. The exhibition presents works from twenty-one emerging and established artists who challenge traditional notions of the body, the self, and systems of representation. Works in the exhibition include sculptural objects, site-specific installations, and performative works.

The Polish Film Institute is celebrating the presence of Polish talents and films in the Official Selection of the 70th Berlin International Film Festival. We3Studio created new patterns based on traditional Polish folk style in a contemporary, digital aesthetic. The studio designed the overall look of the Polish exhibition as well as various printed leaflets.

Headlines are set in Iskry, body text uses Fira Sans.

Korespondencja, Różewiczowie i Voglerowie (“Correspondence, Różewicz and Voglers”), published by Warstwy Publishing, is a summary of 60 years of correspondence between the Różewicz and Vogler families – which yielded some of the most important researchers and creators of Polish contemporary literature. It also provides details of their personal lives, Polish theatre, as well as multiple comments about their own creations.

The cover of the book, designed by Marta Przeciszewska, is a contemporary interpretation of letters with stamps and various playful interpretations of the title. The composition underlines her design approach which pleases our eyes with well-balanced, detail-oriented composition. A great example is for instance the usage of a manicule inside the dust jacket, pointing at the title. It is from Retor, which is also used for headlines throughout the book. The body text is set in Alegreya, contrasted by Franklin Gothic.
