Programme leaflets for the 2020 tour of M+ Rover to local primary schools in Hong Kong. The participating artist is Wong Tin Yan. M+ Rover is “a traveling creative studio that serves as a space for exhibitions and can travel around to different parts of Hong Kong”. It’s organized by M+, Hong Kong’s new museum of visual culture.

The visual identity of these leaflets represents Wong’s concept of “cut and paste” and bricolage (a DIY-style work made by putting together various on-hand materials). Wong will create an educational bricolage by inviting different collaborators – from musicians to chefs to architects – to join him in the M+ Rover tours. The graphic design also foregrounds the question “Yes But Why?”, the title of the artist’s work. This is the question we want to have in mind when entering the primary school campuses, as it encourages the artist, students, teachers, and M+ team to challenge and explore the world around them.

The primary typeface for English text is A2 Boing. It’s paired with Noto Sans CJK (i.e. Source Han Sans) for Chinese. Small English text is set in Nitti Grotesk.

“COVER: COVER” is a small retrospective of the 13th anniversary of "Design 360°". The magazine has been in existence for 13 years and has undergone three major revisions. (...) and three different sizes of the book were combined with the theme content to directly use the "image" as the communication subject.

The "COVER: COVER" exhibition will feature a total of 78 physical magazines from the inaugural issue in 2006 to 2018. The cover design will be specially selected and curated by curators, allowing readers to browse through the venue. — openground

COVER: COVER was an exhibition, co-presented by design studio Milkxhake and openground in Hong Kong, “a Design Portal with Coffee, Exhibition, Books and Music.” Visitors can experience textures, contents, editorial angles and design concepts while flipping through all the editions in the exhibition. To echo with the form of Design 360° magazine, Druk was chosen with its bold and expressive typographic treatments. Explanatory texts are typeset in Circular.

A Life: Lawrence Ferlinghetti. Beat Generation, Rebellion, Poetry is an exhibition in the Museo di Santa Giulia in Brescia, curated by Fabrica, highlighting the importance of the figure of Lawrence Ferlinghetti – American poet, painter, publisher, and cultural agitator with Brescian origins. The exhibition presents Ferlinghetti in the context of the literary scene of the 1950s and 1960s, and in particular within the Beat Generation movement.

The reason why I used Josefin Slab is not only its geometric typewriter style, but also a dynamic and tough feeling. To match with the idea of “type and explore”, I think it’s quite suitable to describe Mr. Ferlinghetti’s journey.

New visual identity system designed for Hong Kong Philharmonic Orchestra (HKPhil) to celebrate its 45th anniversary in HK outdoor publicity. Using Danmark (English) and Noto Serif CJK (Traditional Chinese) with their modern-classic style. The typeface Danmark created by A2-TYPE has a modern look and is easily readable. We use different background colours to highlight different series.
