Dina Vierny (1919–2009) was the muse of the great French sculptor Aristide Maillol, a gallery owner, and a collector. Born in Chisinau, she emigrated to France in 1926, where she mingled with the Paris-based Russian intelligentsia. During World War II, Vierny was part of the Resistance, helping refugees to cross from France to Spain. She was arrested twice and spent six months in prison, being released only thanks to Maillol’s efforts.

Following the sculptor’s death, Vierny became the guardian of his works, and in 1947 she opened a gallery in Paris. In 1959, she visited the Soviet Union for the first time, where she met nonconformist artists such as Ilya Kabakov, Erik Bulatov, and Vladimir Yankilevsky, whose work she would later exhibit in Paris.

The book was publihed in Russian as Дина Верни «История моей жизни, рассказанная Алену Жоберу», in an edition of 2,000 copies. Text is set in two typefaces from Paratype: Newton and Pragmatica.

Brand identity for Prokhodnoye Mesto (Проходное Место), a bar in the center of Moscow. Alexander Lubovenko’s Stapel (Paratype, 2020) is used in stacked and justified caps for the English-language navigation. DIN 2014 Stencil (Vasiliy Biryukov, Paratype, 2017) is used in the “МЕ́СТО” logo. The font used for the Chinese text is unidentified.

Vasily Biryukov created the typography on the exterior of Parka, a bar in the center of Moscow. The interior was designed by Archpoint. The type on the windows is DIN 2014 Stencil. The typeface used on the awning is Input Mono. The bold stencil letters for the logo are from an unidentified font, or might be custom drawn.

Живопись и опыт в Италии XV века is the Russian title of Painting and Experience in Fifteenth-Century Italy. First published in 1972 by Oxford University Press, the influential book by British art historian Michael Baxandall was made available to Russian readers by V-A-C Press in 2019. The translation was provided by Natalia Mazur and Anastasia Forsilova.

The book typography by Dmitry Gusev and Mikhail Filatov uses Newton.

Brand identity for Моряк и Чайка (Moryak i Chayka, “Sailor and Seagull”), a seafood restaurant and bar in the heart of Moscow. The slab serif in use on the façade and signs is Circe Slab, a typeface in three styles. Circe Slab A (used on the facade) is a near-monolinear slab serif; B (in use on the menus) has a medium contrast, and C offers high contrast styles. The sans serif is Stem.

Brand identity for Prscco, a bar in the center of Moscow. Alexandra Korolkova’s Stem (ParaType, 2014) is used throughout.
