The corporate logo features the Revue typeface and released by Letraset in 1969. The story follows Sunday, a child with a vivid imagination, as she prepares for ear surgery with the help of her stuffed octopus and supportive family. The book balances humor and reassurance, aiming to ease children’s anxieties about medical procedures.

The typography plays a central role in shaping the book’s approachable tone. The title and promotional lines are set in Spumoni LP, whose rounded, playful forms echo the illustrations’ cheerful energy. A decorative flourish appears in the oversized green S rendered in Baby Giovani Script, adding a whimsical accent that highlights the character’s name. The back cover text, including the synopsis, author biography, and pricing, is composed in Bembo Infant, chosen for its readability and softened serifs that make the narrative approachable for both children and parents.

Source: www.amazon.com License: All Rights Reserved.

This post was originally published at Fonts In Use

This animated video targets babies, toddlers, and preschoolers by showcasing a mix of educational content and classic nursery rhymes. The trailer previews popular songs such as “One Two Buckle My Shoe”, “I Am a Little Teapot”, and “Yankee Doodle”, highlighting the channel’s bright cartoon animation style. Overall, it serves as a guide to the channel’s main offerings, which include moral stories, learning compilations for numbers and alphabets, and songs about community helpers.

Typography plays a central role in shaping the trailer’s identity. The first video thumbnail (“Magicbox English Kids Channel TRAILER”) uses FoliaMix, a playful mixed‑stroke display typeface seen only in the thumbnail. The second image (“EYE CATCHING NURSERY RHYMES”) employs Boink, with each word styled in vivid colors. The third image (child holding “1” and “2” signs) uses Arial Rounded for the numerals, while the transparent “MagicBox” logo in the top‑right corner is set in Filmotype Accent. The fourth image (large “1” and “2” numerals) switches to Gotham Black for bold blocky numbers, with the “MagicBox” logo again in Filmotype Accent. The fifth image (“FROM Magic Box ANIMATION”) shows Boink in the words “FROM” and “ANIMATION,” while the central “MagicBox” logo is rendered in Filmotype Accent. The story follows Curtis, a neighborhood mail carrier, on his final day of work after 42 years of service. As he makes his last rounds, he is met with gifts, hugs, and a surprise community party. The narrative highlights themes of gratitude, community, and everyday dedication. Illustrations by Margaret Dyer add warmth and charm to the farewell scene.

Moore captures the quiet magic and anticipation of Christmas Eve. First published in the early 19th century, the poem follows a peaceful household as the arrival of St. Nicholas brings wonder, warmth, and festive joy. Its rhythmic verse and vivid imagery have made it a lasting seasonal tradition, passed down through generations. This edition features charming illustrations by Janet Samuel that enhance the story’s cozy, dreamlike atmosphere and invite young readers to experience the enchantment of Christmas night.

The cover typography pairs playful and elegant styles: the title is set in ITC Tapioca, lending a whimsical, handcrafted feel that matches the story’s tone, while the author credit appears in Malonia Voigo, offering a refined contrast. On the back cover, the opening capital N of the excerpt continues in ITC Tapioca, with the remaining text—“estle your children all snug in their beds…”—set in Malonia Voigo, maintaining visual continuity with the front. Additional publication details, including the copyright, imprint information, price, and printing line, are set in Gill Sans, providing a clean, modern sans-serif contrast to the decorative display fonts used elsewhere.

License: All Rights Reserved.

This post was originally published at Fonts In Use

The book presents a young girl asking her mother a series of imaginative questions about what princesses can and cannot do, ultimately reinforcing the idea that being a “princess” is about inner qualities rather than strict rules or appearances.

The visual style combines soft watercolor illustrations with expressive, playful typography that complements the childlike tone of the story. The title lettering has a whimsical, hand-drawn appearance that reflects curiosity and imagination, while the lighter, more decorative text elements enhance the gentle and reassuring mood of the narrative. The type helps communicate themes of self-acceptance, individuality, and breaking traditional stereotypes, aligning with the book’s message that children can define themselves freely.

The title and credits are set in Randumhouse, whose irregular, slightly uneven letterforms reinforce the informal, storybook feel and visually echo a child’s handwriting, making the design feel approachable and personal.

Subsequent books in the series use likewise use Randumhouse for the title, now paired with Fairfield – which is also the typeface used for the interior (not shown).

Source: carmelacoyle.com License: All Rights Reserved.

Do Princesses Scrape Their Knees?, Rising Moon Books/Muddy Boots Books, July 2006

Source: carmelacoyle.com License: All Rights Reserved.

Do Princesses Have Best Friends Forever?, Taylor Trade/Muddy Boots Books, December 2010

Source: carmelacoyle.com License: All Rights Reserved.

Do Princesses Make Happy Campers?, Taylor Trade, February 2015

This post was originally published at Fonts In Use

The pink “Shoulders” label is set in Moulin Rouge FLF, whose soft curves and decorative personality give the callout a friendly, storybook feel. The lyric line at the bottom uses Arial Rounded, a familiar, highly legible choice often found in early‑learning materials because of its gentle terminals and simple geometry. The MagicBox logo seen at the top left uses Filmotype Accent.

The combination of these fonts supports the video’s purpose: guiding young viewers through body‑part identification with clear visual hierarchy and bright, inviting shapes. The rounded forms and high color contrast help maintain readability even against the busy illustrated background. Overall, the typography contributes to a cheerful, accessible learning environment typical of early‑childhood media.

Source: www.magicbox.co.in License: All Rights Reserved.

This post was originally published at Fonts In Use

It was published by Dawn Publications in 2013.

The cover title is set in Rat Fink Heavy, a display typeface designed by Ken Barber at House Industries. The bold, irregular letterforms create an informal and playful tone that complements the illustrated savanna setting and wildlife theme.

Supporting text, including the subtitle and interior body copy, is added in Chaparral, a humanist serif typeface designed by Carol Twombly for Adobe. Chaparral’s moderate contrast, open counters, and balanced proportions support readability in extended text, making it well suited for children’s educational publishing.

The combination of an expressive display face for the title and a readable serif for continuous text reflects a common typographic approach in contemporary picture book design.

The same typefaces are also used by other books by Berkes and Dubin, like Over on a Desert: Somewhere in the World, Over on a Mountain, Somewhere in the World, Over in a River, Flowing Out to the Sea, Over in Australia, Amazing Animals Down Under, and Over in the Forest: Come and Take a Peek.

Source: www.amazon.com License: All Rights Reserved.

This post was originally published at Fonts In Use

The hand‑drawn softness of Minya Nouvelle gives the title a friendly, inviting presence, matching the book’s gentle illustration style.
