In 2020, the Metropolitan Museum of Art opened a signature exhibition celebrating its 150th anniversary: Making The Met, 1870–2020. For the exhibition identity and graphics, The Met used the typeface Petit Serif designed by Matthieu Cortat and released by 205TF. The typeface choice was inspired by the letterforms chiseled onto the walls of The Met. Designer Daniel Koppich and Gina Shin enhanced the exhibition experience by elongating the dash from the type and highlighting the years in large scale to convey the passage of time from 1870 to 2020. Petit Serif is paired with Josh Finlea’s Centra No. 1 (Sharp Type) for the text panels.
