Giulia Julss is an aesthetician who decided to open her own beauty salon in 2023. Her dream has always been to create a place where people can feel at home, take care of their bodies, and relax. This is how Giuly Julss – Un momento per te (“A Moment for You”) was born. The project was conceived by combining visual elements in a way that might seem inconsistent at first glance; in fact, the real goal was to create a cohesive style suited to a local, personal business without disrupting the surrounding context.

We used a combination of four fonts— Apfel Grotezk, Park Lane, Pinyon Script, and Molle—to further enhance this balance. Specifically, we chose a refined aesthetic (cooler colors, more formal fonts) for the first customer touchpoints, such as gift vouchers and business cards, while opting for a warmer, more informal, and spontaneous style (warmer colors, friendlier fonts) for touchpoints experienced within the salon itself. The logo is custom drawn.

This thesis project made at NABA Milano delves into the social implications of communication design, investigating how the profession of a designer can influence and shape the thoughts of individuals and society. The book is divided into six chapters, each addressing a specific theme of our interest: aesthetics, experimentation, cities, culture, politics, and people. At the conclusion of the research, two interviews were also conducted. The typographic approach of the book is the result of research and experimentation around the ideals of the Dutch studio Experimental Jetset: the goal is to make the book a tangible and material object by employing different visual solutions, such as the overlay of textual elements, unconventional cuts of photographic elements, and an extensive use of white space.

Giangi is a hair salon in a northern Italian village. The shop is characterized by a disruptive eccentricity thanks to a mix of neo-baroque and animal-print furnishings. We opted for non-invasive graphic design in order to enhance the already defined identity of the store. For these reasons, we have also chosen not to design a logo, limiting ourselves to use a single typeface, Beaux from AlfaType (Italy), which refers to a refined Italian spirit and a bright red. Furthermore, to hark back to furnishings, we opted for Fedrigoni Armadillo Costellar Jade paper and a graphic sign that recalls the soul of the neo-baroque.

Oblio is a magazine that describes the world of visual design from an unusual point of view: the projects that were never realized due to failure, rejection, lack of time or money. We interviewed seven studios and three designers, asking them about the meaning of visual design, their vision related to failure and the future evolution of visual designers. During the meetings, each of them showed us projects that were never completed or realized. In conclusion they provided us useful advice aimed at those who, like us, have yet to take their first steps in this world.

The two main typefaces used in this edition are Spectral (Production Type) and TWK Everett (Type.weltkern). Selected headlines use Ortica Bold (Colllettivo).

Spoiler_mag is an Instagram-based digital magazine which aims to visualize and collect trends in the fields of design, technology, fashion and entertainment—in short: envisioning the future. The main goal is to try to answer the following question: what will the world be like in 2040?

The logo is using Raphaël Ronot’s Minipax (2019). It’s paired with Christophe Badani’s Mister Pixel (2012), another Velvetyne release, and Florian Karsten’s Space Grotesk (2017). Spoiler_mag is a project by Riccardo De Capitani and Federico Agnelli. It’s scheduled to be launched later in 2022.

To celebrate the new year 2021, I made this calendar as an extension of my personal identity. The yellow circular gradient is the main element that rises and goes down over time—as the sun does.
