Roxette released the greatest hits album Don’t Bore Us – Get to the Chorus! in 1995. “She Doesn’t Live Here Anymore” was the third single from that album being one of the new tracks. The whole sleeve has text written in Bodoni and was designed by EMI lead designer Kjell Andersson. The B-side is a remix of “The Look”.

The lone eponymous album by The Lonely Boys is probably the only soundtrack to a novel.

Included with the first run of Mats Olsson’s 1995 novel about a 1960s band and released commercially in 1996, the album saw Per Gessle team up with Nisse Helberg to create a soundtrack to accompany the story.

Both the book jacket and the album cover use Dolce Vita to emulate a 1960s style. It is paired with several styles from the Monotype Grotesque family.

FF Angst STD HEAVY is the main typeface used for The Change –

FF Angst was designed by Jürgen Huber and released with FontFont in 1997. It’s used in all-lowercase letters, with alternating glyph colors for Marie Fredriksson’s name.

The reason all the titles are shown on the sleeve is that, according to rumor, everyone knew their songs, but no one knew they were by Roxette. Four unreleased tracks were added to this compilation. The font is Corporate S, used exclusively in lowercase; with alternating colors for words, lines, and glyphs; some considerable horizontal stretching; and acute accents instead of apostrophes.

Roxette went on a major world tour in 1991–1992, Join the Joyride! During that tour they recorded songs, as they say on the sleeve – in “studios, stages, hotelrooms (sic) & other strange places”, among those the very famous Ocean Way Recording studio in Los Angeles where they cut a country version of their major hit “It Must Have Been Love”. Per asked the technician if they could have the piano sound like John Lennon's in “Imagine”. The tech said yes, but why? It didn’t happen! Released on vinyl, CD, MC and MD.

The typeface family used all over this is Futura, in different styles.

In 1996 Roxette decided to thank their Spanish speaking fanbase with an album in Spanish. They collected all their successful ballads such as “Listen to Your Heart” and “Spending My Time” and translated them into Spanish. The Spanish lyrics were written by Luis Gomez Escolar and Roxette caught a lot of flak regarding his translations as they were regarded as ‘childish’ by the fans.

Per and Marie don’t speak Spanish so they didn’t realize this. Also they were given a line in Spanish to sing in the studio, and when that line was nailed, they were given another. According to the Spanish speaking fans their pronounciation is great. The album was re-released digitally in 2022 with added tracks and a different running order.

Rear sleeve in the US.

This isn't the “real” Roxette, but singer Per Gessle’s previous band Gyllene Tider’s album in English. It didn’t do well. Billboard reviewed it as “Swedish produced band with American sound. Not much happening here.” The Swedish version of the album contains 11 songs and is called The Heartland Café.

The inappropriate band name is based on caps from ITC Avant Garde Gothic, with hyper-extended glyphs. The letter O is depicted as a vinyl record, with the title in the light weight of Gillies Gothic, set on an angle.

Crash! Boom! Bang! is Roxette’s fifth album. Recorded in Capri, Italy it sold fairly well and the world tour following its release was huge. The sleeve is of course designed by Kjell Andersson and Roxette. Crash! Boom! Bang! was released on vinyl in the UK.

Favorites from… was released in September, in the US only, by McDonald’s. The idea was “the album minus the singles”. This was a big marketing mistake and while it sold a lot at Mickey’s, normal record stores refused to carry the real album. This was basically the last Roxette did in the US, until 2012.

The album typography uses all-caps ITC Franklin Gothic, with alternating letter or word colors, in orange and red. Bodoni was used to set the record number and “EMI Svenska AB 1994” (not pictured).

Pearls of Passion is Roxette’s debut album. Released in Sweden and in Canada of all places! It contains the hits “Neverending Love”, “Soul Deep”, and “Goodbye to You”. It didn’t make any noise whatsoever outside of Sweden. Designed by Kjell Andersson as all of EMI’s albums were back then. There was a CD re-release in 1997 where the fonts were subtly changed, ITC Fat Face became Poster Bodoni for instance.

Their third album in Sweden, but second in the rest of the world, Joyride established Roxette as a real band. Designed by EMI in-house designer/producer Kjell Andersson with help from Roxette. Kjell was very into Futura at this period – here using the Bold in all lowercase –, and considering none of this was made in Photoshop it really is a masterpiece! It was released on vinyl, CD, MC, DCC and MD, with all sleeves being the same except for the cassettes where they cropped it in portrait mode of course.

An iconic sleeve from Roxette’s break-thru album Look Sharp!, featuring all-caps Franklin Gothic Condensed for the title. “The Daily Roxette” is in Modern No. 20 or similar. Many claimed that the newspaper idea was stolen from the Guns N’ Roses album G N’ R Lies (November 1988), but in fact Roxette came first. EMI, and the band, wanted Roxette to look like they already were super famous, so they gathered most of the employees from EMI Svenska AB and a few select friends to shoot the sleeve. Roxette’s manager Marie Dimberg put all the copy together. Also the date is wrong, supposedly the album was to be released October 19, but was actually released the 22.
