We created a distinctive identity for photographer and art director Dondre Green that uses a combination of typography, layout, and colour to present a contemporary and expressive look for his brand and website. Born and raised in the Bronx with roots in Jamaica, Dondre’s creative vision captures the essence of culture, identity, and artistry. His identity and website are designed to reflect his unique perspective and bold creativity.

We chose Base&Bloom from NaumType as the primary header font, while Blaze Type’s Area and Ivy Foundry’s IvyOra serve as complementary fonts. The logo is a modified version of Abide by Barrett RM Type.

We crafted a dynamic digital experience encapsulating Joshua Kissi’s visionary approach to photography and filmmaking while celebrating his Ghanaian-American heritage. The design embraces modern minimalism while showcasing his striking imagery, ensuring his work remains the focal point. For Joshua’s identity, the type treatment was designed to highlight the incredible talents he has worked with.

We chose a bold typeface, Benzin, allowing their names to take center stage, while an italicized serif, Swear, contrasts this boldness, adding depth and nuance. The overall typography is bold, contemporary, and unapologetic perfectly complementing his identity and body of work.

The logo is a mix of custom letters and customised version of TAN Daisy.

Sam Bufalo is a documentary family and wedding photographer based in Stamford, Connecticut. We designed the brand identity and website for Sam that evokes emotions inspired by moments reminding you of old footage, handheld cameras from the 1970s, messy but real moments.

Sometimes Times, designed by Sam G. Hughes, is used as the main header and accent typeface. It is a timeless serif integrating contemporary aesthetics to classic form, inspired by individualistic old-style serifs and mid-1990s culture. For body copy, we used Courier Prime by Alan Dague-Greene, which brings to mind typewriters and computer programming. Courier Prime adds a sparse, minimal and “undesigned” feel to the identity.

NN Knit Grotesk is used together with Anonymous for the website of NKWO. The logo appears to based on Greyhound, with some modifications.

Welcome the new identity and portfolio website for the incredibly talented Sage East, a renowned visual storytelling photographer and director. With her profound impact in the advertising and editorial arenas, Sage’s work captivates audiences through its compelling narratives and deep emotional resonance.

For Sage’s typography, we opted for Romie as the single font family for the website. We wanted to present Sage’s tonal work with a contemporary typeface that balances out the richness of the photos but also introduces a suave elegance to the website.

We designed Sage’s logo to reflect a mix of femininity and masculinity energy. Keeping it legible but memorable. The logo is designed with Blinds Audience (customised).

In designing Sage’s digital showcase, we aimed to create an environment that mirrors the depth and engagement of her photo and motion projects. Our goal was to develop an immersive and interactive experience that remains effortlessly simple, allowing each visitor to truly absorb the essence of Sage’s storytelling without distraction. From breathtaking photo essays to mesmerizing motion pieces, every element of the site is crafted to enhance the narrative power of her work.

The Blackpepper Studio (TBP) is an award-winning multidisciplinary design and experiential Studio creating engaging and meaningful design experiences and identities for brands within the fashion, luxury, arts, wellness and lifestyle industries. Our work is primarily informed by storytelling with a strong exploration of editorial design, expressive typography and colour all approached from a contemporary point of view.

In designing our website, one of our prominent visual languages was centred on the website's typography with Charlottenburg by Kilotype leading the pack. Its high contrast gave us the perfect bold editorial feel we needed while its wide O’s served as image containers for some visually sensitive concepts.

To balance out Charlottenburg’s razor-sharp serifs, we used Neue Haas Grotesk Display and Freight Display as body fonts. To add a personable touch, Altesse is used as an accent font throughout the website predominantly for writing names. The logo is based on Neue Helvetica Condensed.

Curated by Stéphanie Chendjou, Ndaane is a platform for emerging African fashion talents to get discovered and tell their stories, passion, and challenges through thoughtful curation. We worked with Ndaane to refine their brand positioning and redesign its brand identity.

Stéphanie came to The Blackpepper Studio (TBP) because Ndaane didn’t have a clear and distinctive visual identity. She wanted the brand to be quickly identified in the crowd. We designed Ndaane’s brand identity with this in mind.

The typefaces were paired to establish an editorial feel while maintaining a radical contrast in the communication. As a platform for emerging talents, we wanted to create a recognisable display where talent’s names stand out in headlines or a body of text. To achieve this, we introduced Syne by Bonjour Monde and Lucas Descroix in the Bold weight to highlight talents’ names and words of interest while Boogy Brut Poster White by Julien Priez (Bureau Brut) with its true contemporary style creates the perfect visual interest and contrast. Body copy is set in Work Sans by Wei Huang.
