Bernie Thomas is an Australian fashion label based in Byron Bay, NSW.

We joined forces to design a fresh new look and feel that reflects the label's untamed approach to fashion and their risk-seeking identity. Working closely with the team, we started with brand audits, research and discussion, forming a strategic framework around the brand idea of "Fuel the Fire".

For the brand mark, we worked together on a pared-back redesign using Authentic Sans that could adapt to key visuals and creative direction for seasonal campaigns. The final solution also ensures flexibility across different sizes and scales on the web with updated shorthand and monogram versions of the logo designed.

The Roboto typeface family is used for the brand’s type system to establish a distinct and recognisable identity that supports the brand's distinct tone of voice and writing across print and screen media.

After developing a new direction for the brand’s visual and verbal identity, we established a simple brand system that included design guidelines, assets and templates all in one digital workspace.

Tapered Construction is a small building firm based in Melbourne, Australia. Together with like-minded builders, architects and homeowners, they are working to decarbonize the building industry. The building and demolition industries are responsible for almost 40% of Australia's annual waste. The good news is most of this waste can be reduced, reused and recycled to meet the challenges of a low-carbon future. The firm is reducing harmful practices by prioritizing materials with minimal environmental impact more broadly, building homes that require less energy to maintain and implementing on-site waste management practices.

Beginning with a strategic approach, we crafted the brand idea of "A Future Worth Building" to guide our visual expression of the brand's identity. Early on, we explored design solutions that moved away from the standardized/formal typography that we saw being regularly used by traditional building firms. Karrik was used for the brand's logo and primary typeface for its authentic charm and visual irregularities that resemble forms found in natural environments. It is supported by Nib in its light style for the body text. Overall, the brand's use of typography serves to visually support the brand's purpose, reinforcing its commitment to sustainable building that serves local communities and our home planet.
