For the fourth time in one year, I've created a temporary sign for the local café Le Liber'thés in Blois, France.

After a first one using Banco and a green gradient (see bottom), for this one I’ve adapted Bild from the Font of the Month Club (DJR). I also tried to execute a reversed Touriga Casual lettering (designed by Fernando Mello) at the top and the bottom of the sign. And as I have a sort of freedom (“Liberté” in French, hence the name of the place), or ‘carte blanche’, I've also tested two colors combinations.

Definitly not a perfect hand painted sign (no sharp corners, many wonky shapes, etc.), but just a way of practice and try some ideas and see the reactions.

The mosaic on the lettering is (not changed every quarter of course) is modeled after Blippo Black.

After so many lockdowns, it's time to shape new things and “time to make it happen!”. A nice "papillon" could help me to do this and mostly other people to understand the need to do it in real life with papers, inks, and so on.

And for this Job Clarendon did the job very well, completed by Plantin in the back. The small text ads a question to the line set in Job Clarendon: “Perhaps with a printed medium to mark the spirit?”

Détour musical n° 20

Détour musical is Étienne Pouvreau’s musical show on Studio Zef. For the visuals, he wanted to try something new, like making a hand-made mask instead of using a Photoshop effect. “A home-made stencil. Me & my razor blade!” The letterforms are modeled after MuirMcNeil’s aptly named Cut.

Each episode of Détour musical brings one hour of music, selected by Brother John and presented by Étienne. No. 20 is made “to counter the November coldness, taking you from California to Brooklyn, via Verona and Perpignan.” You can listen to it on Mixcloud.

New Year’s cards, designed by Étienne Pouvreau using letterforms based on Flavia Zimbardi’s Joschmi typeface, and laser-cut at Fab Lab de Blois from Rives Tradition paper (300 g/m²). Made in an edition of 200 copies.

Annual program for the two Caf family centers of the Loir-et-Cher department, Vendôme and Romorantin-Lanthenay. Designed by Étienne Pouvreau using Reforma 1918 and 2018 Blanca & Blanca Itálica, Gris & Gris Itálica, Negra & Negra Itálica.

This label was designed by Étienne Pouvreau for the new sparkling grape juice from Domaine des Claires “Bulles de Raisin”, their first non-alcoholic beverage aimed to Cognac cocktails’ enthusiastics, teetotalers and kids.

The name is set in all lowercase Granville put on an angle while others informations are displayed with Stratos ranging from Light to Thin. Various yellow circles echo sparkling bubbles.

This label design was created for the new range of wines from Domaine des Claires. It is refined and feminine but still sober, for an elegant wine that has aged in oak barrels. Fedrigoni Merida paper has been combined with golden hot foil-stamping and a delicate Swedish typeface … et voila!

To expand its range, the Domaine des Claires now offers square stackable mignonettes with 20cl of Pineau des Charentes. To differentiate the pineau from other products while retaining an air of family, I suggested a sober and refined label that draws inspiration from the Art Deco style of the Royan countries. Printed on Tintoretto paper, perfected with a touch of gold.
