Gianfranco Pontillo Design saw F37 Foundry’s Bergman as the perfect typeface for the elegant wine label design for Belle Emilie, a new wine from the Cellier des Chartreux winery in Pujaut in southern France.

With its tapered stems and geometric thick/thin lines, F37 Bergman is just the job for luxury branding, and this is evident in the work from Pontillo. It is paired with Morgane Vantorre’s Arthemys. The Chartreux logo appears to use Gotham by Tobias Frere-Jones.

A range of wines born from the partnership between the cooperative winery Cellier des Chartreux in the south of France, and Sébastien Chabal, the former French international rugby player. Domaine "Les Hautes Roches" (The High Rocks) is a Cru of Tavel, a wine-growing Appellation d'Origine Contrôlée in the southern Rhône wine region of France, across the Rhône River from Châteauneuf-du-Pape AOC and just north of Avignon. Tavel produces nothing but rosé wines. Tavel is one of the few rosé wines that can benefit from aging.

The French doudou means “one’s favorite blanket” or “teddy bear”, while doux is “sweet”. MIP stands for “Made in Provence”. “Le Doudou de MiP” hence is your favorite sweet dessert wine made in Provence. Et voilà…

The fonts in use are Mostra Nuova Heavy (Mark Simonson Studio) with filled-in counters and a customized round dot, and Neutraface (House Industries).

The name of this fresh rosé wine is derived from a deeply philosophical French proverb, which in English can be translated as “When candles are away, all cats are grey”.
Designed by Gianfranco Pontillo for the Cellier des Chartreux in Provence, the logotype humorously mimics the adventurous path of a cat on the nightly rooftops.
