Sofia Coppola’s comedy On The Rocks makes use of what appears to be a digital version of Old Style Bold for its key art. The trailer and movie credits use the similar ITC Tiffany, which also appears for the smaller type on the poster.

Peter Miles has said he is inspired by the slapdash signs of discount supermarkets. It seems likely that influenced the logo and titles for The Bling Ring. See also the teaser trailer titles.

The layout and use of Van Condensed was already well established in Miles’ work for The Journal Gallery in Brooklyn.

The hand lettered main titles of A Very Murray Christmas (see bottom of page) were done up with the standard glitz of a common TV special. In fact, that title is for a fictional special — the one featured within the story. While the end credits, set in a loose Cheltenham Condensed (possibly FB Cheltenham), are a much classier affair. The stripped down, elegant style, with spaced out centered columns and occasional staircase text, is right in Peter Miles’ wheelhouse. He has worked with director Sofia Coppola many times.

The first trailer for Sofia Coppola’s latest film, The Bling Ring, features some huge titles using Dom Diagonal, the oblique version of the 1950s typeface Dom Casual. The posters use both styles of the family. The designer is not officially credited, but it must be Peter Miles who has worked with Coppola on several films, mentions Bling Ring in this interview, and designed the main titles for the film.
