22 Pollen is a landmark development spearheaded by private investment and development company, Triumph Capital. Triumph Capital have an extensive and diverse portfolio of premium and character workspaces throughout central Auckland and tasked us with producing a bespoke publication showcasing 22 Pollen to a discerning audience.

The design of the publication was informed by the architecture of the building and the locale. The façade of the building facing Pollen St is a central feature, with an arrangement of brass and aluminium panels intersecting with the glass and stone wall. This provided us with a recurring graphic that we applied as a foil on the cover and pattern on insert pages.

Hand-lettering was employed to offset the modernist lines of the layout and typography. Neuzeit S was used as the primary typeface, and Letter Gothic for captions; as its vertical height act to counter the geometric forms of Neuzeit.

Page inserts highlighting the key features of the building and amenities were placed throughout the booklet. Finally, a palette of forest green, brass and blush tones were chosen to reflect a sophisticated luxe in keeping with the visual outlook of the neighbourhood.

Batch is a self-initiated promotional project aiming to encapsulate who we are, as collaborators who excel in our client partnerships. Our relationship with the producers of a small-scale, locally grown olive oil from Mangawhai was the perfect vehicle for this. Olive oil symbolised in so many ways the qualities of partnership; it is a versatile product that enhances whatever it is matched with. The provenance of the oil, as an enterprise created by the community of Tern Point to grow, tend, pick and press the olive oil, brought the concept to full circle.

We wanted to reflect the natural and crafted aspects of the product – this is olive oil in its purest form, grown in an environment where the elements of sun, land and sea come together. As a whole team, we spent an inking session developing the logo and abstract ink marks that represented these elements and would lend an organic, free-form feel to the design.

The generated logo and accompanying visual assets were offset by the choice of Letter Gothic for the labels, while Graphik was employed for the pamphlet that described the origins of the product. The finishing touch to Batch was to number and hand-write messages to the recipients directly on the bottle and box label.

Buckley’s Heroes is a publication designed to celebrate the rich history, many achievements and clever people — past and present — that make Buckley Systems the successful company it is today. Having recently rolled out a bold new visual identity, this brand book aims to fill the large, tight-knit workforce with a sense of belonging, pride and unity.

Buckley’s Heroes tells true stories of the company’s beginnings about overcoming adversity and seemingly impossible challenges with sheer grit and innovation, each illustrated like vintage annuals from Bill’s youth. Featuring visionary statements, infographics and dramatic product photography, the publication is a unique, fun and visual way to present the brand’s values and commitment to innovation.

Blending a vintage aesthetic with the bold, contemporary visual identity gives the brand a unique internal visual language that reflects the contrast between the raw heavy engineering workshops and the clean, precision finishing of their highly technical electromagnets. Wire binding electroplated in copper and a textured hardcover with foiled detailing echo the materials used in electromagnet production and give the book a tactile quality.
