Designed in collaboration between the specialized research unit affiliated with the Kandinsky Library within the National Museum of Modern Art and the Centre Pompidou Publishing House, the “Recherches” collection highlights critical studies and interdisciplinary research in modern and contemporary art history. These studies are conducted with a focus on the collection of artworks and archival materials preserved by the Centre Pompidou. The collection is particularly dedicated to making previously unpublished texts available in French. For the first issue of the "Recherches" collection, the Centre Pompidou Publishing House presents a critical anthology of eighteen texts on the themes of globalization and post-colonialism.

Since the launch of this collection in 2022, the graphic design has been led by the French studio Huz & Bosshard. They use Zénith by Matthieu Cortat (205TF) for body text, captions and titles, and FF Balance by Evert Bloemsma (FontFont) for footnotes and credits.

Éditions Lorelei publishes critical and theoretical works on art and culture, as well as artists’ books and publications whose writing includes graphic and editorial choices.
Among these books, those in the “Frictions” collection combine artistic and political reflections, with a view to sharing tools for thought with those who cross these two fields —and whom these two fields cross.

French studio Huz & Bosshard used the typeface Plaax (Damien Gautier, 205TF) for headlines; Henry (Matthieu Cortat, 205TF) for continuous text and footnotes; and Tristram (Matthieu Cortat, unreleased) for citations.

LB Plantes is a small-scale company set up by Léa Bosshard with the aim to participate in responsible and sustainable viticulture and agriculture. LB Plantes produces and sells
ecologically produced plant extracts, traditionally known as plant purin, which are a result of the natural fermentation of a plant in rainwater.

The primary purpose of these extracts is to stimulate plants and enable them to better assimilate the elements available in the soil, with indirect effects to help plants defend themselves against certain diseases or insects. A mixture of these different extracts can therefore reduce the use of chemical inputs and fertilisers.

For its visual identity – the website and the labels of the products themselves – LB Plantes relies exclusively on the use of different cuts of Klub designed by Pierre Pané-Farré available through Type By.

For the running text – both on the website and the printed product labels, Klub 08 Medium is used in combination with Klub 06 Bold. While the website uses Klub 11 Bold for the typesetting of the product names only, the printed labels – in addition – make use of Klub 06 Bold and Klub 04 Black to make the variant lengths of the product names fit on the labels.

Hahaha. The humor of Art, a collaboration between KANAL-Centre Pompidou, the Centre Pompidou and ING Belgium, was one of Brussels’ flagship exhibitions in 2021.

Re-opening after 18 months of closure, the ING Art Center presents more than 200 works, selected by Nicolas Liucci-Goutnikov, curator of the Centre Pompidou and Anne Petre, head art curator at ING Belgium. The eclectic and wide-ranging collection – separated into eight themes – reveals the overlooked role of humour in major art movements from the 19th century to the present day.

The accompanying bilingual exhibition catalogue by Huz & Bosshard is typeset in multiple widths and styles of Klub designed by Pierre Pané-Farré.

Klub is used in all its capabilities to its full extent: from straight body copy, visually-loud chapter openers and for typographical hierarchies like footnotes. Throughout the catalogue Klub 04 Medium, Klub 06 Bold, Klub 08 Medium as well as all styles of Klub 11 are paired with ITC Century. The result is powerful and strong design on the basis of a strict book architecture. In addition the catalogue comes with a booklet with English translations in which the typographic motive is repeated.

Published on the occasion of the retrospective exhibition dedicated to the Moroccan painter Farid Belkahia (1934–2014), this catalogue affirms the artist as one of the founders of Moroccan and, more widely, Arab artistic modernity. To design this book, Huz & Bosshard used the typeface Dédale designed by Thomas Bouville and published by 205TF.

The exhibition was shown at Centre Pompidou from 19 May to 19 July 2021. It was realized together with Mathaf: Arab Museum of Modern Art, Doha, and in collaboration with the Fondation Farid Belkahia, Marrakech.

Rapport 2009–2018. 9 ans de résidence au centre hospitalier Métropole Savoie was designed and formatted by Huz & Bosshard with the typefaces Bonesana and Cosimo, both created by Matthieu Cortat and available on 205.tf

This report on nine years of the residency program at a hospital in Savoie, France was published by Filigranes Éditions.

Published on the occasion of the 20th anniversary of the Ricard Corporate Foundation Award, 20 ans d’art en France. Une histoire sinon rien, 1999-2018 presents itself as a panorama of the French art scene since 1999. This book is designed by Huz & Bosshard using Helvetius created by Matthieu Cortat, paired with Yoann Minet’s Traulha Lineara and its italic companion, Clinat.

Eduardo Chillida (1924–2002) is one of the great sculptors of the second half of the twentieth century. This book, designed by Ariane Bosshard and Olivier Huz with the typeface Yorick, created by Matthieu Cortat, accompanies an exhibition at Les Abattoirs, Toulouse and focuses on the relationship of the creator to the four elements (water, air, earth, fire), gravity and space. Published by Éditions Dilecta.

The Or catalog was published on the occasion of an exhibition at Mucem which presents a trip into the history of art about gold. Object of covetousness and conquest, traditionally symbol of power and wealth, is also, by its very plasticity, the material of all metamorphoses, the quality that makes it a privileged support in the arts.

The layout was done by Huz & Bosshard with Helvetius (by Matthieu Cortat) and the soon to be released Walbaum Plain (by Thomas Huot-Marchand) as the main typefaces, both available from 205.tf. [editor’s note: Walbaum Plain was released in January 2021 as Album Sans, see comments.]

The footnotes mix Walbaum Plain with italics from Bram de Does’s Trinité.

Image captions combine Versailles and the monospaced OCR-B, both by Adrian Frutiger.

The stage directions in this excerpt from William Shakespeare’s Timon of Athens use italics from Alice Savoie’s Faune.

Through waste, this book questions our lifestyles, our patterns of consumption and production. The graphic designers chose Basetica (available on 205.tf) and Tristram, created by Matthieu Cortat; Norr created by Damien Gautier; and Garaje, created by Thomas Huot-Marchand, soon available on 205.tf.

Ariane Bosshard and Olivier Huz chose the font Helvetius, created by Matthieu Cortat, to design the layout of the artist book Untitled Reloaded by Jacob Bendjama and Sébastien Leseigneur, published by Micronaut Éditions.

Huz & Bosshard used two secondary sans serif fonts in the colophon: Futura Renner’s old style figures for the page numbers and the print run, Fluxisch Else (AKA UniversElse) for the artists’ initials.

Designed by Huz & Bosshard, the book Vivre à Koenigshoffen à l’époque romaine is about the birth of the town of Koenigshoffen, in Alsace, which is closely linked to the settlement of the Roman army in Strasbourg from the beginning of the 1st century AD.
The designers have chosen the typefaces Petit Serif and Helvetius, both created by Matthieu Cortat, and Maax Mono, created by Damien Gautier.

The Espace Art Contemporain, created in 1999 by the city of La Rochelle, is a place of creation, exhibition, research and experimentation of contemporary art located in an area of ​​200 m² with original architecture, in an episcopal palace from the eighteenth century. Huz & Bosshard designed this publication that presents the approach of the project.

This book is a catalog for Splendeurs & misère: Images de la prostitution at the Musée d'Orsay. The exhibition explores the fascination of painters for the beauty and misery of prostitution, and how they find different pictorial ways to present it.

Hotel is the first monograph about the artist Pierre Vadi. This book gathers a large collection of works and exhibitions, with a thousand of pictures, and three essays.

Prière d'insérer is a booklet made for an exhibition by Cocktail Designers in La Rochelle. It was designed by Huz & Bosshard, with the Louize typeface.

This book is a tribute to Le Gentil Garçon’s (“The Nice Guy”) childhood passion for encyclopedias. Many articles by different contributors and artists are collected, as well as maps and a timeline showing the places where the artist exhibited and worked, along with the cultural contexts and historical events that influenced his work. The design by Huz & Bosshard plays with the structure of an encyclopedia.

Through 650 images drawn from the unpublished archives of the French National Institute for Typographic Research, this catalogue tells the untold story of a period of profound technological change, exploring the little-known world of typography design through a diverse selection of projects drawing on both an age-old craft tradition and the most radical innovation.
