The distinctive design of OVØ suggests that we are in front of an exclusive limited edition of outstanding natural wines. The bottle conveys the key elements that make OVØ a remarkable range of wines: biodynamic and artisanal production with fermentation in egg-shaped tanks, astral constellations and lunar phases, and millenary Greco-Roman heritage.

While the typography, set in Cyrièle by Stéphanie Brussick, evokes the archaic Greek stone engraving, the seamless circular vortex layout recalls the captivating pattern decoration of the ancient amphoras. Star constellations and the Moon’s phases inspire the midnight blue and gold colour palette. The silkscreen label design blends with the bottle's ovoidal body. The design was screen printed by Winglob.

The company behind OVØ is Vitbot, the manufacturer of the bottles, who commissioned the Collblanc – Mas El Ferrer winery to elaborate these two limited editions of 100 units each, which were a huge success.

These wines are from 2020. Unfortunately, the Covid-19 pandemic came right after the OVØ launch; it impacted Vitbot’s business to such an extent that they have had to put all commercial activities on standby until they find new partners.

Bella Ciao is a Czech-style lager craft beer by Spanish brewery L’Anjub that pays homage to the famous Italian libertarian anthem, a call for universal struggle against all political and social oppression.

The design evokes the Italian origin of the folk song, using images taken from pamphlets of social protests in Rome during the 1970s, while the ground-breaking Futurism work by the Italian artist Fortunato Depero inspires the lettering and typography, set in DIN Next.

The main purpose of the design is to express the power of the protest, using a strong combination with a striking contrast between the colours red, black, and white. In addition, the style depicts the vibrant, expressive, and even lo-fi quality finishes of the vintage underground political print materials.

The client was tempted to produced the full set of designs, from label to packaging, posters and coasters – but ultimately opted to produce the beer labels only.

Housed in the exquisite Hyatt Regency Chantilly Hotel, CRAFT Market is a restaurant, open buffet, room and takeaway service that serves seasonal gourmet cuisine at lunchtime. Its open kitchen invites guests to watch as their fresh, healthy food is prepared. On sunny days it can also be enjoyed on the terrace surrounded by the verdant scenery of Chantilly forest.

The CRAFT Market identity is the result of combining the spirit of the craftsmanship of the food (made from certified farm-sourced ingredients), with the industrial setting of the space, created by the exterior steel roof truss and the interior metal frames.

Rustically Industrial

The connection between food ingredients and the decorative metal frames is depicted over an 18th-century inspired French Toile de Jouy pattern (linen with intricate romantic, pastoral scenarios printed in a single colour onto a cream background). The contemporary CRAFT Market Toile de Jouy not only wraps the identity but also relates to the historical baroque heritage of the adjacent Château de Chantilly.

The juxtaposition of rustic and industrial is expressed in every feature of the design: classic engraving illustrations made from vector drawing tools, rubber stamps over geometric patterns, glossy silver & gold stickers, metallic ink over recycled surfaces.

Casa Cardona wines are the culmination of an exciting community-born project by a group of friends from the beautiful Cardona Square, Barcelona. The personality of their female founders can be savoured in each of its varieties.

The portraits are the result of a series of lighting experiments focused on illusion and perception, including how to capture depth and motion effects onto two-dimensional surfaces. While the artwork and logotype are genuinely inspired by the 1960s Op art paintings by Bridget Riley and Victor Vasarely, the choice of Fivo Sans Modern evokes the same period—when Aldo Novarese’s Eurostile was widely used.

Dot is an art magazine that serves as a platform to explore ideas and to showcase talent. Being a self-published art magazine by London’s Double Decker curating and design studio, it already had some branding and identity choices made before it started, such as the use of DIN Next for body copy and the use of black and white contrast, or using large white spaces in the layout of content.

DIN Next is paired with DD dot, a bespoke display typeface that reimagines Herbert Bayer’s avant-garde Universal typeface (1925). I designed the font in Adobe Illustrator and used Fontself Maker to generate and export the fonts. For me, it was the first time that I decided to design a complete display font. Previously I had only designed single letters as part of the logo development process. Designing your own typeface for an art magazine was a logical decision as it brings a unique character to the publication.

Hyatt Regency Chantilly Hotel is home to Le Condé, Punch & Cocktail Bar. Le Condé is a felted lounge with extravagant touches, where to chat, have fun and share signature punches and cocktails. The drink menu has unique and surprising recipes which vary according to the seasons.

The eccentric atmosphere of Le Condé is a homage to the historical figure of Louis, Prince de Condé (1621–1686). He organised a courtly life in the adjacent Château de Chantilly that was as vibrant as that of Versailles, inviting all the greatest artists of his time. The Prince of Condé was known as an enthusiastic patron of the arts and an ardent admirer of various charming women, one of whom described him as a much more effective and able general than paramour. Le Grand Condé, also known as the Condé Pink, or the Condé Diamond, is one of the world’s most unusual and notable diamonds. The diamond remained in the Condé family until 1892. Today, it is on display in Musée Condé, the art gallery of the Château de Chantilly.

The logo and typography evoke French Baroque quirkiness. Dulcinea is a sophisticated Baroque revival: complex, intricate yet contemporary. In combination with Revista Inline and its classic feel, adds the touch of quirkiness that connects with Le Condé atmosphere. Zahrah has French fashion elegance while offering excellent readability.

The color palette has two main colors: Condé Diamond Pink & Chantilly Forest Green. The historic heritage of the Prince of Condé family and the Château de Chantilly breathe in the materials and colors selection: from the shinning pink hot foil to the textured green extravaganza.

GovLoop, located in the heart of Washington DC, serves a community of more than 300,000 federal, state and local government public servants. Their core mission is to help government employees to do their jobs better, and advance in their government careers.

GovLoop SWAG goes far beyond its simple definition of the “Stuff We All Get”. It’s all about the coolness of the brand. GovLoop’s signature T-shirts and stickers are intimately related to the corporate culture, its philosophy and its tone of communication, friendly and fun. The leading role in the new identity relies on the swag: the freshness and positivity turns each sticker into a smiley and funny character with personality and life of its own that imprint their charm on business cards, stationery, envelopes or even on the packaging tape.

Ciutadella Rounded is used throughout.

This GovLoop guide provides high-level information about how the U.S. DoD workforce is prepping for the future and the rationale behind the four main IT initiatives moving into 2020: Force of the Future, Joint Information Environment (JIE), Defense Innovation Unit Experimental (DIUx), and United States Cyber Command (CYBERCOM). The black and white design, using Geogrotesque and Geogrotesque Stencil throughout, is inspired by control centers equipped with cutting-edge technology.

Because all GovLoop guides other than the Pocket Guide series are full-page, using wire-o binding is not feasible for the cost. Therefore all GovLoop publications use ‘perfect binding’. For this guide, I convinced the design and finance teams to produce a limited edition of brochures with ring binding along with the regular printed edition and a pdf download.

GovLoop’s Pocket Guides are a public-sector resource that presents trending IT topics that are important to the U.S. Government community of Washington, DC. The content brings in outside research and gives readers a quick resource to reference and learn from.

This new editorial series is a fresh follow-up from the 2017 series Pocket Guides – Part I that was inspired by the mid-1970s DC Metro design by Massimo Vignelli, and the grid-based systems by Josef Müller-Brockmann.

This second series is typeset in Acumin Condensed, paired with a color palette that celebrates the beauty of the colors of the district of Columbia: the intense red in the flags, the eye-catching green of the parks alongside the bright blue of the sky, the warm orange & yellow tones of dawn and dusk, and the otherworldly violet hues at night.

GovLoop's publications are supported by sponsors; there's an initial issue between 500 to 1000 printed units depending on the sponsor needs. Those printed publications are distributed among the client—for their promotional and marketing purposes—and top public sector leaders. At the same time, a PDF version is uploaded to Issuu and is distributed via a Newsletter to the more than 300.000 public service users that are part of the GovLoop network.

Identity for Barcelona Century, a hotel located in the famous Barcelona district of The Eixample.

The inspiration comes combining famous heritage elements taken from The Eixample — constructed in the 19th and early 20th century, such as street and block layout, patterns, hydraulic tiles, and letterpress. See more images of the work and the inspiration on Behance.

‘Botifarra’ means sausage in Catalan. Butifarring is a specialized small restaurant located in the centre of Barcelona. The claim “charcoal-grilled sausages made with love” was the starting point for developing the logotype, while the graphic design and the whole identity is based on the pattern of the symbol.

Annual reports for Fundación Aqualogy — currently known as Suez Advanced Solutions. The challenge was to make a bunch of Word and Excel documents into an appealing publication, with the overall contents being data tables. Development of printed and digital versions.

The clean, grid system-based design is inspired by the everyday places in the public-service workforce such as the signage of Federal agencies buildings and the Metro as designed by Massimo Vignelli in the mid-1970s. See more images on Behance.
