The Bellegarde Cultural Center is an institution dedicated to contemporary and digital arts located in Toulouse, France. For its new identity, Vif Design used Kernevel for the logotype and titles, with Moderat for informational text. For now, it looks like only the signage system was redesigned.

The festival identity for the 20th edition of Origines Contrôlées, held from October 20 to December 21, 2023, was designed by Vif Design and uses the Bugrino and Modelo typefaces.

This festival, celebrated annually in Toulouse, France, highlights the rich diversity of cultural heritage and promotes dialogue through various artistic expressions including music, theater, and visual arts.

The Angkor Révélée exhibition, lasting from June 2019 to January 2020 at the Musée Georges-Labit in Toulouse, was dedicated to photographer Jacques Sierpinski’s Angkor Wat body of work.

Toulouse-based studio Vif Design designed the poster and signage for the exhibition with SangBleu Empire and Sharp Grotesk. The predominant red color is an echo to the darkroom ambient light where the photographs are developed.

SangBleu Empire is part of the SangBleu family and is available from Swiss Typefaces.

Justice Commune is an exhibition showing archival resources from the Municipal Archives of Toulouse, France. Taking place at the University of Toulouse, the exhibition focuses on traces of criminal justice during the seventeenth century.

Studio Vif Design used Sainte Colombe to set the title of the exhibition which translates to “common justice”. Used in caps, Sainte Colombe immediately evokes the aesthetic of lapidary inscriptions that used to show the laws and rules in the ancient city. Its sharp capital letters keep a legacy associated to authority, all the more when it comes to institutional authority. No wonder it seemed appropriate for an exhibition dedicated to judiciary archives.

We see here the classical aspect of Sainte Colombe, which is usually counterbalanced by its lowercase letters, showing more evidently the irregularities of the stroke: its design was directly aimed at reconciling illogical shapes with an overall stability, in order to obtain a regularity in diversity.

Sainte Colombe is contrasted with the sans-serif Fakt.

The exhibition graphics additionally use Steinbeck with its alternate r, see the bottom right.

As part of the celebrations for the 80th anniversary of the Retirada, the Toulouse Municipal Archives wanted to highlight the views of four photographers on Spanish Republicans who found exile in France after the Civil War.

Witnesses and sometimes actors, they immortalized the distress, but also the dignity and resilience of these uprooted populations. Jean Dieuzaide, Germaine Chaumel, Enrique Tapia Jimenez and Marius Bergé, Toulousains by birth or adoption, professionals or amateurs, have all been confronted, at some point in their lives, with the drama that unfolded at the gates of their city, and its consequences.

The exhibition graphics were designed by Vif Design, using Tme by Benoît Bodhuin and Lack by Velvetyne.

On the occasion of the Euro 2016, Toulouse’s archives collected photographs from reporter André Cros to make an exhibition in the public space, near the “fan zone”. The selection shows some highlights of the Toulouse soccer team in the mid 20th century.

Vif designed the graphics as a tribute to soccer graphic codes, such as sporty types and fluo colors.

To celeberate the 500th anniversary of the first depiction of the city of Toulouse, the Municipal Archives and the Convent of the Jacobins have joined forces to offer an exhibition of five centuries of maps, views, drawings, photographs … of the city. The exhibition shows how the visual memory of the city has been shaped as technology advances.

Vif Design designed the communication of the event as well as the graphics of the exhibition in a desire to refresh the content while linking the different periods represented.
