Type foundry in Vienna that started as the Gaßler printing house (1785–1803), continued by Keck & Pierer, expanded to include Blasius Höfel’s type foundry, and sold to Carl Fromme in 1867. Handed over to Karl Brendler in 1876, who operated under the name Brendler & Harler and, from 1882, as Brendler & Marklowsky. Renamed Karl Brendler & Söhne when his sons Karl and Joseph joined in 1885. Acquired the Oskar Lässig type foundry in 1901. Karl Brendler died in 1914. His sons Karl and Joseph and their sons Fritz and Karl continued to run the business. Acquired by Johannes Wagner in 1965. [Reichardt]
