Official flyer for the party

In September 2019, a party was held in Barranquilla, Colombia, celebrating Love and Friendship Day (21 Sept.). A friend who was going to play music, asked me to make the flyer. The concept: something like “Cry ass.”

In the Colombian Caribbean we have a qualifier for that situation in which you have already broken up with your partner but you are still there, searching for them and insisting: being a crybaby.

This is how the concept for this party was born, and what better solution to avoid being embarrassed than instead of being intense, is better go to twerk and cry until you get down at the disco.

At a time when reggaeton was facing changes in perception and a certain empowerment on the part of more alternative sectors, we thought about making the design more complex with less conventional resources: resorting to classic paintings mixed with current graphics.

So we take a fragment from "The Descent" (Circa 1443) and a frame from the video “Lyk Dis from NxWorries” by Anderson.Paak & Knxwledge (2018), with illustrations by @Rhymezlikedimez.

This Is Not a Report is a journal to express my personal gratitude to the people at SWG Design who, for the past 4 months, had accepted me as an intern. In this journal, there’s a glimpse of the people behind SWG Design, things I did while on my internship period, and also a photo documentation of my journey from home to the studio that was captured through Google Street View.

This Is Not a Report was printed on book paper. It has 52 pages measuring 5.83×8.27 in. The photo journal has 24 pages (3.3×6.1 in).

The typeface choices revolved around a strong, bold kind of feeling. Harbour and Pensum Italic are used for the title and headline, while Opposit is used for the body copy to balance it out. Cooper Black additionally is used for the complementary sticker pack.

Arcadian Field is an intimate festival experience nestled at the foot of the Cooley Mountains on the breath-taking grounds of Bellurgan Park. We gather at this unique setting to celebrate life with music, art and other creative forms.

Grandson created a concept for this music/arts festival, along with a brand identity and a range of hand-drawn graphic elements that relate to the pastoral theme and the natural assets onsite. This branding was applied to a minimalist colour palette, paired with Max Esnée's Savate throughout. See more pictures on grandson.ie.

Ready, set… go! SPRINT – The Portfolio Issue showcases 23 different portfolio approaches of young HfK Bremen athletes coming from the disciplines of integrated design, digital media and fine arts. Over a 10 week boot camp these young students trained the art of portfolio making. Now they are taking on the fight of the job marked striving for fame, glory and a half decent salary.

SPRINT headlines are set in Savate by We.ch – a free font which is freely inspired by a hand-lettering found in the streets of Ivry-sur-Seine in the suburbs of Paris. Its name refers to the savate, a typically french fighting sport – a perfect match for the “no pain! no gain!” spirit of SPRINT. Less rebellious but rather more classic is the choice of Garamond as text font and Suisse Int’l for marginalia.

The exhibition “set now — exhibit exhibition” shows the research results and insights of the “new exhibition design” within the frame of the Master thesis of Vanessa Kiefert and Eric Fritsch at the edi — Exhibition Design Institute at the Düsseldorf University of Applied Sciences. The editorial work on the third edition of the book series New Exhibition Design, edited by Uwe J. Reinhardt and Philipp Teufel, gave occasion for the manifold discussion with the medium exhibition. The research on the “new exhibit” continued with the Exhibition Design Reader, a collection of classical and contemporary literature on exhibition theory, as well as the symposium “entweder oder. sowohl als auch. dazwischen.” with international guest speakers and representatives of various disciplines in dialogue about new trends and tendencies within exhibition design.

Show or exhibit? “Set now” reflects and documents the status quo of exhibition design. As defined by applied research, spatial and creative quotations, as well as interviews with renowned architects, designers, curators, artists and scientists, make the exhibition multi-faceted and comprehensible. Instead of a pedestal, a table or a display case, building materials and storage technology are de-contextualized and “misused” in order to emphasize the process of exhibiting. The exhibition architecture is closely related to material descriptions, standards and guidelines. The relationship with space, object and text refers to the work of the Belgian artist Marcel Broodthaers, who, with word-image relations, language images and pictorial language, signs and names, questioned the role of the museum and the art business in the seventies.

Typolo is a fanzine of typologies, which invites illustrators and artists to experiment around a formal subject and a format constraint. For the first number, I invited 15 people to make an illustration of a full body character.
