This is the 1977 logo and dust jacket for a book published by Dr. Rzepela. The name of the author is in ITC Korinna Bold.

Zip Diet was created by Dr. Stanley J. Rzepela, who opened the Zip Diet Center in Boston. The logo started with a font which I cannot remember and have been unable to track down now.

Above is one of a dozen or so small space ads, each having weight-related copy with a twist. The slab serif used here is ITC Lubalin Graph.

Stop Overthinking is a 2023 book by Tina Tessina that aims to help readers identify and confront overthinking.

The main typeface is URW DIN used in various styles, with Colossalis Black added for the first part of the word “overthinking” for emphasis.

The Rencontres de Lure is an annual gathering held in the village of Lurs, in the French Alpes-de-Haute-Provence department, bringing together typographers, graphic designers, and lettering artists for a week of talks, workshops, and typographic culture. Founded in 1952 by Maximilien Vox, it remains one of the most intimate and inspiring events in the European type scene.

For the 72nd edition (2024), I had the pleasure of designing labels for small bottles of organic Lavandin essential oil; a scented souvenir with a typographic touch, so attendees could carry a piece of that remarkable week with them.

The oil comes from Bleu Provence distillery, and each label sits on a deep blue glass bottle; an elegant, almost medicinal object that called for something both refined and warm. The design pairs Le Cygne as the display typeface with Fraunces used in both roman and italic, for the body and secondary information.

Kosmas-Apotheke is a pharmacy at the Neumarkt in Cologne, Germany. The shopfront sports a neon sign with Kaufmann, in all-lowercase letters and with extra slant.

The Sahaja Yoga website from Switzerland uses Reforma 2018 (PampaType) for titles, phrases and all main texts, plus Renner* a.k.a. Jost* (indestructible type*, 1997, based on Futura by Paul Renner, 1927) for secondary texts.

Diabetes Mellitus is a book featuring the work of artist Aucke Paulusma. Along with the eponymous exhibition curated by Bram Groenteman, it explores the (in)visibility of this chronic illness. The publication also offers a rich exploration of the exhibition’s themes, featuring essays by Edwin Becker, head of exhibitions at the Van Gogh Museum, and curator Bram Groenteman. It was designed by Studio Berry Slok.

SweatPals is a social fitness platform for discovering and hosting classes, clubs, retreats and other wellness experiences. The website brings together participant-facing discovery and host-facing business tools, with sections for studios and gyms, clubs, retreats, testimonials, app downloads and booking demos.

The website uses Store Norske Skandia from Skriftkompani and Raw from Out of the Dark.

Olisma is a new brand of dietary supplements and skincare products that promotes not only its products but also a philosophy of life. This approach is underpinned by a strong brand slogan, “Health is everything”, as well as a visual identity focused on usability and education.

Art direction by Pauline Saurus, with Bogart and Aperçu as fonts in use.

Real Mushrooms packages its mushroom supplements in a calm, earthy system of bottles and pouches, using warm neutrals, product-specific illustrations and a clear distinction between powders, capsules, blends and pet products. Across the range, the design accommodates long product names, certification marks, beta-glucan claims and serving information without losing a quiet overall feel.

Typefaces in use are Store Norske Leif and Store Norske Skandia from Skriftkompani.

Trevor Dearing (1933–2023) was a Charismatic Anglican priest who wrote eighteen books, including this one about miraculous healing through faith. For the cover, designer Cynthia Sahlman build a wall of type from the Heavy and Regular weights of ITC Serif Gothic. The display typeface by Herb Lubalin and Tony Di Spigna is used in all caps, featuring the alternate uncialish E.

For its 40th Anniversary, the AIDS-Hilfe Frankfurt published a comprehensive book, celebrating four decades of fighting for visibility, justice and human rights of vulnerable groups and detailing its founding, development and impact:

For four decades now, AIDS-Hilfe Frankfurt (AHF) has stood for solidarity, acceptance, and support for people with HIV and the queer community. Under the motto “Diversity that lasts,” we look back on 40 years of struggles, change, and achievements—and at the same time look ahead with a clear promise: We are here to stay. Combative, united, and loud.

The book was designed by Marie Bauer, using Trax, paired with BBB Poppins TN. From her portfolio website (translated from German):

The layout is broken up by angled text, slanted elements, and different type sizes, allowing a large amount of text to be presented in an appealing way. Black and bright red on recycled paper.

Part social club, part workout spot, part cafe and curated retail shop, 100% neighborhood retreat. The Lark is a local haven where space abounds and time stops.

I worked with the Lark’s founder at the very beginning, from naming to logo design to website. The fitness space is a crowded one, and we wanted the Lark to stand out as a uniquely bold, community-oriented, female-forward club. For me, that meant starting with a lot of research into other fitness spaces. I discovered that most commercial fitness spaces looked extremely masculine and aggressive: Impact-esque fonts, grays and blacks and neons, and muscle-forward messaging. More female-driven spaces like pilates and yoga practices were the complete opposite: flowery fonts, neutrals and pastels, and borderline saccharine language. The Lark needed to be feminine yet strong, bold but welcoming.

I chose Scale as the primary font because I felt it encompassed all of those traits. It has personality, it has dips and curves, and it demands attention. The color palette helps bring that personality to life with energetic, sunset-inspired hues. Instead of leaning on one main brand color like so many gyms do, I created a vivid and flexible system that allows assets to lean into different aspects of the club. Cocktail party? The deep eggplant can be paired with light pink to evoke the night. HIIT workout? Bright reds and oranges are there to get people hyped up.

Made by Reuben & Co., An Exercise in Perspective is an experimental documentary and fundraising film, which follows the story of blind runner Phil Harrison.

Born fully sighted, Phil has lost eyesight from two unfortunate moments – an injury to his left eye as a teenager, compounded by a cancer diagnosis in his right eye when he turned 60. He now has less than 5% vision, only afforded to him with an artificial iris.

Many people could become reserved after such bad luck – Phil has decided to run.

In 2026 he will run his first ever marathon, the London Marathon, raising money for the UK sight loss charity, RNIB (Royal National Institute of Blind People).

As the frontman of infamous punk band Social Security he has always been defiant and young-at-heart. The band provide the perfect soundtrack to his story.

Immersive, mixed-media and a DIY project – the documentary gives a perceptual insight into Phil’s excitable, scrappy and inspirational spirit.

The title uses Optician Sans. Additional fonts used include FF Dynamoe and Scratch. Tiresias (not shown) is used for closed captions and subtitling.

Beam was a short-lived personal care line dedicated to all things butt care, designed by Saint Urbain. Alexandre Saumier Demers drew the logotype. Seabirds acts as the supporting typeface to the logo, used for tagline, subhead and body text across the brand materials.

In Latin America, one in four girls regularly misses school due to a lack of period products and deep-rooted stigma. Somos Martina is challenging this inequity at its root by integrating period underwear into the mandatory Colombian school uniform. By adding period care to the required list of school items, it becomes the standard rather than an extra, allowing schools to communicate directly with parents and remove the burden of uncomfortable conversations from the girls.

The visual system for El Uniforme Menstrual (“The Period Uniform”) is based on the aesthetics of a teenage diary and deliberately avoids clinical or commercial cues. The design language features custom illustrations, hand-drawn typography, and data charts rendered as scribbles to maintain a relatable feel. This identity is applied across print, film, website, and school materials, supported by photography and a short film to make menstrual care accessible and scalable by design.

Because equal education starts with dignity. And dignity starts with care.

The campaign was conceived by Serviceplan Innovation. It involved film director Claudia Barral, illustrator Adriana Lozano, and photographer Violeta Zambrano. Daniel Kuhnlein took care of the website.

Protest Grotesk is the typeface used by Seasonal Fruit for HEISSER SOMMER (“Hot summer”), an installation in the public space by Neckarinsel Stuttgart.

Stuttgart is a city that is missing one crucial element: water. Although the Neckar river flows through the city, it remains largely inaccessible, and on hot summer days there are few places for people to cool off or take a refreshing dip. The initiative Neckarinsel e.V. aims to change this. For several years, they have been actively engaging in local politics, raising funds, and building support to make the Neckar more accessible. Their efforts have already borne fruit: a small island in the middle of the river is now open to the public during the summer. This art exhibition, presented in a temporarily empty public display space in Stuttgart, seeks to educate visitors about this issue and encourage them to get involved.

Sessiz Kutlama (“Silent Celebration”) is a testimonial book by photographer Nurra Yazıcı, conveying her experiences of her son Ali’s heart transplant process through text and photographs.

The book is structured to allow the texts and images to sustain their own pace. Published bilingually in Turkish and English, the work is designed with a reading structure that does not accelerate the narrative but instead creates space for pauses, repetitions, and moments of stillness, stretching the temporal flow.

Hany’s Harvest’s packaging and visual identity features three typefaces from Faire Type. Print is used for big headlines, Print Text for subheads, and Sprig Sans for all the body copy.

Inspired by founder Hany’s own wellness journey and grounded in time-honored herbal traditions, Hany’s Harvest was born from a passion for helping others feel their most vital, naturally. Their mission is to empower you to thrive by harnessing the transformative power of functional superfoods – carefully crafted into easy-to-take wellness tonics that make daily self-care both simple and delicious.

We developed the brand identity for TARB, a new hair care brand. Guided by the philosophy of “True And Raw Beauty,” this project explored how to translate nature’s pure, primal beauty into a refined and deliberate language.

With both the Korean and Japanese markets in mind, we sought an aesthetic closer to attitude than visual excess. The direction began with the texture of Eastern minimalism and the quiet discipline of Zen.

We stripped away unnecessary ornamentation and built the packaging with restrained colors and generous negative space. The logo, too, takes its cues from natural forms rather than artificial expression.

To ensure beauty in its raw state is conveyed without exaggeration, we carried the brand’s core values consistently across its visual language and overall spatial experience.

The logo is custom drawn. Nordvest is the brand’s primary typeface, used for headings. On the packaging designs, it’s paired with Arno Italic. The website additionally uses ABC Diatype (English), Sandoll GothicNeo (Korean), and PingFang (Japanese).

Microdosify is a premier online source for high-quality microdosing gummies and capsules in Canada. Similar to a resilient plant emerging from a small seed, it has evolved from a place of personal adversity into a powerful catalyst for positive transformation. Their mission extends beyond merely offering microdosing products; they are spearheading a comprehensive mental health revolution, one dose at a time.

BROKLIN partnered with Microdosify to develop a colourful brand identity including the design of a new website that sets it apart in the market. The new visual system needed to reflect the company’s values and beliefs, as well as its mission to make use of the precious resources nature provides. It was crucial for the design to appear elegant and stylish, appealing to a discerning, adventurous, and health-conscious audience. We employed a variety of colours for different flavours, inspired by the name and organic ingredients. The logomark was redesigned with a thick, consistent stroke weight, resulting in a modern, clean, and balanced appearance.

Typography plays a key role in the project. Accompanying the logo is a new sans-serif wordmark set in PolySans Median Wide by Gradient, which matches the logomark’s stroke weights and serves as the primary typeface. For both Microdosify lifestyle and product photography, the team developed two distinct approaches to reflect the health-related aspects of positive transformation and the brand itself. A bright, clean background photography style is used to convey clarity, highlight details, and build trust. At the same time, the real-life approach helps create an emotional connection and shows how the product fits into a customer’s everyday life.
