Moving Mountains is the first institutional solo exhibition of Saudi artist Ahaad Alamoudi, held between May and October 2024 at Hayy Jameel, an art center located in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia.

This ambitious new work continues Alamoudi’s expansive exploration of rapidly changing social and cultural environments, situating Saudi’s natural and urban landscapes as sites of possibility – punctured by effort and powered by fantasy – where both individual and collective attempts to do the seemingly impossible are imbued with humour, absurdity and, at times, hopefulness.

The exhibition title is set in Michaux (with a few modified letters) for the Latin, and 29LT Okaso for the Arabic. The artist’s name is in Georgia Italic. All other text is set in Greta Text. The color palette or light grey and warm brown reflect the title of the show, with the addition of a subtle, neon green pattern.

Note the modified letters in Michaux: in Bold, the uppercase M is a thickened version of the Regular; in Light, M and n are altered versions of the original glyphs.

Tyson Fury vs Francis Ngannou, billed as Battle of the Baddest, was a professional boxing match between reigning WBC heavyweight champion Tyson Fury and former UFC Heavyweight Champion Francis Ngannou, that took place on 28 October 2023 in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. The tournament featured various other matches leading up to the main fight which was won by Fury in a controversial split decision.

The branding for the event was set in BRIK and promotional pieces included an AR experience and giant sculptures.

The name of this crispy wafer biscuits with strawberry cream, لوكو , is written using Zawiya Bold. The Latin equivalent, Loco, appears to use matching lettering. The product description is set in Boutros GE SS Two (Arabic) and Optima Bold (English), with various other fonts used for the trilingual list of ingredients and other small print.

The wafer biscuits are produced by Basateen Baladi Food Industry, Jeddah, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. The font used for the company name, بساتين بلادي (Basateen Baladi) is unidentified.

F37 Attila by F37 Foundry is used by Works for the global broadcasting company SSC (Saudi Sports Company). A bespoke Arabic version was created for the channel. From the portfolio website of Works:

The new design for SSC (the only sports broadcaster in the Kingdom), required a contemporary brand, appealing to its under 30 demographic (70% of the population) but
with longevity to stand the test of time.

The brand systems where created from the very origins of the country and delivered across a host of materials, from corporate products to channels and platforms.

The design of this logo recalls fruit stickers and the freshness of the market. It is playful and evolutive thanks to the animal illustrations that invite kids to enjoy their meal. The typeface combination lends a garden-and-country spirit to the brand, with a friendly touch.

Art direction, branding, logo design, packaging, and animal illustrations by Célia Grandhomme. The new brand identity is in the process of being rolled out and can already be seen on the Twitter and Instagram profiles.

“Life does not go according to your plans; expect the unexpected”. For this poster design in her تجــربة [Trial] series, Saudi Arabian designer Malak Mohammed used 29LT Bukra, modified with extended bottom parts.

Letterhead, business cards and envelopes for Tariq Hajj Architects in Khobar, Saudi Arabia. The firm name is in the unreleased font Sakkal Tali'i. All other text is in AwanZaman.

This CAMS training manual was published in 2007. Titles and text are in Sakkal Majalla, with subtitles in Awan.

Logotype for Aloula, a real estate development company from Saudi Arabia. The Arabic name is custom. The English name uses the Latin part of the AwanZaman typeface.

Annual report 2008 for Savola, “the leading strategic investment holding group for the food and retail sectors in the MENAT (Middle East, North Africa and Turkey) region.” Titles are set in Awan, text in Sakkal Majalla.
