The Freeman is a revival of the libertarian magazine also called The Freeman started in the 1950s by the Foundation for Economic Education (a libertarian think tank founded in 1946). The online revival of The Freeman was launched on June 9, 2025.

The typography brings together Ernst (Léon Hugues) with New Reason (Miles Newlyn) and the italic of Scotch Micro (Nick Shinn).

The lyrics video for “Down in Atlanta” pairs moody nighttime visuals with bold typography set in Sequel Sans Wide Extra Black from OGJ Type. Rendered large and glowing with a neon effect, the letterforms pulse against scenes of downtown Atlanta, echoing the track’s late-night energy. The combination of scale, glow, and motion turns the type itself into part of the rhythm—sharp, heavy, and unmistakably urban.

Recipe developer, writer, and baker Teresa Finney’s Panadería is a cookbook zine focused on contemporary Mexican-American baked goods, both sweet and savory. The zine contains an introduction, five recipes, and a guide to kitchen supplies, all across just eight spreads. EB Garamond was a great choice for body copy, as it’s heavy working even at small sizes, while Grenette adds a bit of pillowy softness for subheads and numbering. Victorian was used for headlines as a nod to motifs seen in Mexican ornament (without being too on the nose), while Nouveau LX’s condensed forms were evocative and effective for the long title on a narrow cover page. The lowercase e and r of Victorian were customized to enhance readability and avoid distraction. The type-heavy layouts are supplemented by beautiful, 1970s inspired illustrations by Zoé Maghomès Peters.

Keymaster Games is releasing a new version of their Campy Creatures game. The main display type is Bearklaw and an unreleased typeface from Fort Foundry (working title: Silverberg) in addition to custom lettering and illustrations by Josh Emrich. The primary body copy in the rulebook is Metallophile Sp8.

F37 Beckett was used as the primary brand font for Neighborhood Ballet. From design studio Proper:

Neighborhood Ballet is an Atlanta-based dance studio that gives students of all ages a place to discover, inspire, and develop a love for dancing. After opening in Grant Park in 2017, the studio had since grown to four neighborhood locations around the city of Atlanta. Neighborhood Ballet needed a brand update that would represent their vision and growth. We worked closely with founder, Rebecca Harman, to align the identity more closely with the quality of the brand experience.

The Weather Channel is a pay television channel located in Atlanta, Georgia. Launched on May 2, 1982, its logo uses FF Meta since 2005.

Louie Giglio’s latest book, Grace & Glory, offers 365 days of transformative insights to deepen a relationship with God. This devotional guides readers through daily scripture, prayers, and biblical insights, emphasizing the beauty of Jesus’ transformative work on the cross.

The book’s cover features the serif Romie Regular (designed by Margot Lévêque) with an ampersand added from Altesse (by Jean François Porchez). The author’s name is in Helvetica or similar.

Passion is a contemporary worship band from Atlanta, Georgia, renowned for their live albums and performances featuring artists such as Chris Tomlin and Kristian Stanfill. Active since 1997, the band is associated with the sixstepsrecords label. They have achieved significant chart success, with several albums reaching No. 1 on the Billboard Christian Albums charts. For their branding, they use Ninna Regular (designed by Margot Lévêque) alongside the sans-serif Neue Helvetica.

The Call on Heaven album was released in June 2024.

You can find Arclin everywhere. Their technologies make your homes and cars safe, your foods and fields grow, your water clean, and your pharmaceuticals heal. Sparked by recent acquisitions, Arclin sought to move their reputation from a chemical and applications company to a global brand that develops mission-critical technologies the world can’t live without.

The stenciled wordmark, which is a modified version of Stellage Constructed, visualizes the relationship between the seen and the unseen. The implied connections of the letterforms speak to the seemingly invisible science that is the backbone of all their products.

Stellage Display was chosen as the brand's primary headline font for it's sharp, cutting-edge qualities. While the competition blends together with ubiquitous sans serifs and a sea of blues and greens, we made a conscious decision to visually differentiate them while simultaneously positioning them as a leader in their industry. Affairs has a technical quality that just felt right, all while functioning surprisingly well at small sizes. Lastly, General Grotesque Mono furthers that technicality and nod to precision, rounding out Arclin's type palette.

Matchstic created a powerful, beautiful, and utilitarian brand system for SEI Consulting. In this a text-forward visual identity, typefaces Lang and Lang Gothic play a central role.

We believe in print, and in celebrating the best meal of the day, and we love that breakfast is a topic that speaks to both universal experiences and unique traditions in imaginative ways.

Although Morgenmete takes inspiration from iconic food magazines like Lucky Peach and The Gourmand, as well as industry classics like Bon Appétit and Saveur, we aim to publish stories by contributors who don’t come from traditional food-writing backgrounds. Breakfast is the starting point for our editorial, but our diverse cast of writers, illustrators, and photographers interprets that topic in endlessly creative and varied ways.

About the issue:
Morgenmete’s Always Connected Issue believes the breakfast table is the best lens through which to examine our screen-based culture. It’s hard to get away from being extremely online, and breakfast is no exception. We examine what this means for the first meal of the day with deep stories, tantalizing photo essays, delicious dishes, and plenty of hot takes. Come hungry.

The Guild started out by being Atlanta’s first co-living company, creating spaces for changemakers — entrepreneurs, artists, and community organizers — to live, work, gather and thrive. In addition to providing live/work spaces, their program targeted venture and personal development. ⁠

The Guild’s workshops and trainings cover everything from advanced business basics, to personal finance coaching, and even things like mindful meditation, to provide holistic support to these changemakers who work to positively impact their communities. Since then, we’ve evolved and grown, when it became clear that these changemakers were at the threat of being displaced due to gentrification. Our city is grappling with both residential and commercial gentrification, with legacy residents and businesses both at the frontline of displacement. This kind of development only serves to widen the already existing racial wealth gap. Instead, we take a community-centered approach to development. Our upcoming deals are focused on creating a pathway for community ownership.

In the process of rebranding Promax to The Global Entertainment Marketing Academy of Arts & Sciences, we landed on Morion as the brand's primary headline font because of its sophisticated spirit and its gem-like wedge serifs. Morion is paired with TT Hoves, which offers a sharp, structured, utilitarian quality that helps anchor the typographic palette.

For the academy’s logotype, we minimally modified Off Type’s Jubilee, which beautifully captures the elevated and time-honored prestige that the award and academy represent.

The visual identity of Peepal People features Machine Rounded, nicely paired with Mrs Eaves.

Peepal People was launched with great success in 2021 by Alyzeh and Ahmer, a Pakistani-American couple committed to sharing the flavors and traditions of South Asian culture. The visual identity of their brand is rooted in heritage, celebrating the agricultural provenance of their small-batch fermented hot sauces.

The website combines Mashine Rounded with Work Sans and Times Italic.

Creative agency Matchstic partnered with non-profit Hope Heals to pilot Mend Coffee, a brick-and-mortar coffee shop that will provide jobs for people with disabilities as well as a nurturing place for community.

The name Mend speaks to the vision of the parent organization, without being too closely tied to it. The word mark embraces the same dichotomies as the brand: imperfect, yet beautiful. The breaks in Workhorse Script Stencil speak to imperfection, while the typographic style exudes beauty. The F style of SAA Series is one of the foundation’s stalwart typefaces.

Vacation, launched in 2021, is a sunscreen created by the music streaming service Poolsuite. The brand is inspired by Miami leisure and the hyper-optimism of 1980s corporate culture, and leans into many different visual tropes from retro editorial design, including the condensed serifs ITC Garamond and Benton Modern as well as decorative italics, image borders, and paper textures that imply text on the other side of the page.

The company advertises a Diner’s Club special, consumers can make their own faux Vacation business cards with job titles like “Cocktail Umbrella Designer,” and captions on Vacation’s social posts spin tales of imaginary corporate retreats and snorkeling employees. Their unwavering use of the registered trademark symbol on every occurrence of the word Vacation is also a nice, detail-oriented touch that helps sell through the holistic, immersive world they’ve recreated.

Georgia Gothic is the latest album by Atlanta, Georgia-based musician and designer Mattiel.

Mattiel also designed the eye-catching album art for the release, which features the title set in Clavichord (artfully thickened with an outline), artist’s name set in Ogg’s expressive Italic, with track names and supporting text in Plaak Extra Condensed (The small type and fine print are set in various versions of Helvetica.)

For the picture disc version, the type is screen printed on a clear PVC sleeve. This sits on top of the striking photo taken by photographer Jason Travis, which is printed directly on the disc. In other versions, such as the Hot Red vinyl, all of the type moves to the back cover where it is set against an arboreal backdrop that relates to the photo on the front.

This design system is carried through to the Risograph-printed liner notes (printed by Risolve), website, and tour poster.

My typeface Clavichord is not a design that sees a ton of use, so it is especially gratifying to see it appear in a design with devilish details that reverberate against the typeface so perfectly. The video for the single “Jeff Goldblum” is already up, and that was enough to get me to pre-order a copy!

Celebrator Creative created a new visual identity for Pizza Jeans. Words from their portfolio post:

Refining the customer experience for the iconic Atlanta institution, Pizza Jeans. This study took us on a voyage through the calm nostalgia of ’90s community dinners, the pre-fab exoticism of mid-century red sauce joints, and into the heart of ’80s camp – including the development of an ersatz Italian fashion label.

The main branding typeface is F37 Drago by F37 Foundry. For the menu, it’s paired with New Spirit by Newlyn. The “Spaghetti Dinner” poster series combines JAF Herb (Just Another Foundry) with Fino Sans (TypeTogether).

Gurudutt Perichetla is an Indian, Atlanta-based product designer simplifying complex information systems into inclusive human-centric experiences.

He has worked with Salesforce, Google, the Atlanta Symphony Orchestra, and the Georgia Aquarium. His design approach is participatory, inclusive, and grounded in research.

Guru chose to use UCity Pro from Swiss type foundry Fatype across the whole website.
