Helsinki-based design agency Fredag employed Calderón’s typeface Around B as a central visual element in the branding of Alex & Ines, a new restaurant and café located inside the Sokos mall in Lahti, Finland. The typeface appears prominently across signage, menus, promotional materials, neon displays, social media, and printed collateral like gift cards. Its soft, rounded geometry and friendly tone reinforce the warm, approachable atmosphere of the dining experience.

The script logo appears to be custom. On social media, Around B is supported by an unidentified monospaced typeface [see comments].

Formerly a place where renowned Finnish beers were brewed, the Malski building was, for a moment, without a clear future. Malski is now regaining its former glory. Located in Lahti, Finland, this rugged red brick factory has a new lease of life as a unique hybrid of culture, events and creative businesses. The history of the building dates back to 1912. It was originally the site of the Mallasjuoma brewery, an icon and source of pride for the city. Once again, Malski has become a city landmark.

12 Essentials is an exhibition by twelve young emerging designers. By studying the basic needs of human life they have designed twelve different objects which respond to our most deep desires. […] The designers are final year students from Lahti Institute of Design, Finland. The 12 Essentials exhibition is their first international group exhibition and starting point for their future.

The website of Lahti University of Applied Sciences (LAMK) in southern Finland was relaunched in November 2014. The typeface family in use is Dia, a tribute to early grotesques issued by Finnish-German duo Schick Toikka earlier that year.

Dia is a type series in miniature: It reaches from light condensed to black extended, but leaves out all the rarely needed intermediate styles. “Dia’s express pride in cherry-picking the quirk from premodern super­family poles reminds us to express more using less, with style”, says Robb Ogle in his Typographica review. The LAMK website uses all four weights to great effect.

The website design as well as the whole brand identity was done by a group of design students at Lahti University of Applied Sciences, Institute of Design. Type designer Lauri Toikka is an alumni of this institute.
