The pairing combines Swizzy’s clear, precise sans-serif forms, which bring structure and balance, with Neue Montreal Mono’s functional clarity. Together, they support a system built around exploration, contrast, and rapid visual discovery across digital interfaces.

Description of the project by ToyFight:

Flim is an AI-powered visual inspiration platform for creatives, functioning as both a vast library of stills and video clips from movies, TV, and ads, and a suite of AI tools.

Inspired by the cinematic technique of splicing film, we take seemingly disparate elements frames, genres, references, styles, ideas and connect them to form something unexpected, dynamic, and uniquely relevant.

Creating an exciting cottage cheese brand in a boring (but booming) category.

Cottage cheese is having a boom in popularity. Knowing the market lacked a cool brand, Mili approached us to help create a new type of cottage cheese brand. One that puts curds on the map and makes people actually proud of the product.

We first helped understand the category, identifying all the bland cliches, such as blue colour themes and boring visuals. We created a bold logo type, with a vibrant pink colour theme and an illustration of Mili front and centre to help the Curdi brand become ownable, distinct and unapologetic.

Zona SDQ/MCR is used here in deliberate contrast to the elegance of Palatino. Where Palatino carries classical proportion, calligraphic grace, and literary heritage, Zona SDQ speaks in a sharper, engineered voice – contemporary, constructed, unapologetically digital.

This tension defines the spirit of One Point Six, a Manchester-based design studio active during the 2000s.

Renata Motyka has designed the visual identity for the exhibition Planetary Consciousness. Ecosystems of Care at the School of Digital Art, Manchester Metropolitan University. It was curated by Eliza Urwanowicz-Rojecka and Jakub Wróblewski.

It is another project designed to promote Polish and Ukrainian contemporary digital art, co-delivered by the Arsenal Gallery in Białystok and the 3D and Virtual Occurrences II Studio, Faculty of Media Art at the Academy of Fine Arts in Warsaw.

The project has been inspired by the concept of planetary consciousness, in reference to a theory by sociologist and globalisation theorist Roland Robertson, who introduced the notion of global consciousness (Robertson 1992, 2014). Thus termed by Robertson, the shift towards the world-universe relationship already assumed that the global perspective would transcend into the planetary.

The exhibition was presented from November 4th to December 2nd 2025 at the School of Digital Arts (SODA), Manchester Metropolitan University 14 Higher Chatham St, Manchester M15 6ED.

Other Studio partnered with Eindhoven-based designer Remi Reniers to create a new visual identity and website that reflect her deep respect for materials and the natural environment. Her practice is driven by curiosity, shaped by process, and rooted in the raw potential of nature’s rediscovered forms.

Remi shares her journey through exhibitions across Europe, exploring overlooked materials and letting them guide both her thinking and her work.

The Matcha Kyōto is a modern expression of heritage and craft. Inspired by the tea fields of Uji, Kyoto, the brand captures the quiet beauty and precision of Japanese tea culture.

The identity blends structure and softness, using a restrained grid, minimal typography and natural textures to reflect purity and calmness. Every detail of the identity is designed to be felt as much as seen.

The packaging and printed materials use textured, uncoated stocks to mirror the raw, organic qualities of stone-ground matcha. Subtle grain, soft shadows and fine lines create a quiet tactility that reflects the care behind every handpicked leaf.

Each element of the identity was considered to evoke a sense of calm, craft and connection. A continuation of the brand’s visual language in physical form. From the tea-rich hometown of Uji, Kyōto, to the world.

Factory International commissions, produces and presents a year-round programme of original creative work and special events. It also stages the city-wide biannual Manchester International Festival. Since 2018, North have been working with Peter Saville on the visual identity development of both the Manchester International Festival and Factory International.

In October 2023, Factory International presented its first official public performance. This event also marked the official opening of its landmark new architecture in Manchester: Aviva Studios, designed by OMA (Office for Metropolitan Architecture).

In an interview, Ellen van Loon, OMA Partner and Lead Architect describes the building:

This will be a new type of performance space – a unique crossover between a fixed theatre and flexible warehouse. Super-sized moveable walls enable endless configurations within a large space, allowing audiences unexpected vistas of performers. I hope that whenever people come to visit they always experience something different, as if with each visit they encounter a different building.

In an article about the project, It’s Nice That quotes North about the visual identity:

The symbol also denotes creative potential, as North describes in a release: “the symbol represents the space, the opportunity, the blank canvas; a new factory where the art of the future will be made”. It comes alive in animations, warping and transforming to adapt to various identities for events and different outputs, “evolving like the building itself” and forming an anchor to most visual content across the identity.

The font used is the same one North deployed for the last three MIFs, a monospace cut of Gräebenbach by Camelot, which the studio says lends a “machine-like functionality” to the information. Meanwhile, Gräebenbach Mono Black uppercase is used for headlines for “maximum standout and personality”.

Peter Saville, Co-founder of Factory Records and Creative Adviser, sees the factory as:

I see Factory International, and its new home, as a two-way portal between Manchester and the world, through the broadest medium of the arts. The world comes in through it and Manchester goes out through it. It is itself a signifier of intent and ambition, so it’s inspiring.

Visual identity launch campaign

Punto is a rounded, softly constructed typeface originally developed in 2006. Built primarily on a 3×3 grid, it has a modular simplicity that gives it both warmth and precision. The geometric structure lends a sense of order, while the generous curves soften its tone, creating a friendly yet disciplined aesthetic. Here, it’s used across printed materials for One Point Six Studio, where its balanced character complements the studio’s clean, methodical visual approach.

With Shift going through a new phase of growth, Jonathon approached Noramble to help bring the refill packaging to lean more into the brand’s premium positioning.

We created an entirely new visual that is now able to stand on its own. Creating a cleaner look through the use of colour blocking, clean typography and premium materials, whilst reimagining the back of pack to include a new QR code linking to the brand's sustainability mission.

Selfridges is a renowned British department store known for its innovative retail experiences and commitment to creativity, sustainability, and culture. Founded in 1909 by Harry Gordon Selfridge, it has grown into an iconic brand with stores in London, Birmingham, and Manchester. Selfridges champions progressive values and forward-thinking design, offering a curated mix of fashion, art, and lifestyle, all within architecturally distinctive spaces.

Summer of Sound is Selfridges’ seasonal celebration of music culture, featuring live performances, exclusive collaborations, and immersive in-store experiences. For summer 2025, the campaign includes events like “Dream Frequencies” in partnership with Manchester International Festival, transforming store spaces into vibrant music venues. The programme blends fashion, sound, and community to spotlight emerging talent and global genres. For the campaign online and in the streets of Manchester, they used the new typeface by Image Format Record Laser- They paired it with Eurostile Thin for the captions.

Monoform was created in 2005 and used here on a leaflet designed by One Point Six studio in Manchester, England. It is very similar to a typeface I drew in 1993 called International.

We recently rolled out a full website redesign to better reflect who we are as a digital agency—modern, sharp, and confident. Central to the new look is our choice of typography, which plays a crucial role in shaping the user experience and reinforcing our brand’s visual identity.

For this redesign, we paired Space Grotesk with Instrument Sans, two fonts that strike a perfect balance between expressive personality and functional precision.

Space Grotesk, designed by Florian Karsten, is a proportional sans-serif rooted in the classic Space Mono. It brings a futuristic but grounded tone, ideal for headlines and standout moments across the site. Its geometric structure offers strong legibility, while its quirky details lend a distinctiveness that aligns well with our brand’s creative edge.

Instrument Sans, from Instrument Studio, serves as the workhorse for our supporting text and interface elements. It’s a neutral, highly legible sans-serif designed with clarity and versatility in mind. Its unobtrusive aesthetic ensures our content remains front and center, making it the perfect partner to the more expressive Space Grotesk.

The overarching design language is minimal but structured, with careful use of white space and a strong grid system to guide the eye. Space Grotesk leads in top-level navigation and headlines, establishing tone and hierarchy. Instrument Sans supports with quiet consistency—handling body copy, UI labels, and form elements without drawing undue attention.This typographic pairing allowed us to craft a design that feels both confident and considered, without overwhelming the user. The fonts complement the visual identity across breakpoints, preserving legibility and impact from desktop to mobile.

The new Modal.co.uk reflects our evolution as a digital agency: bold, collaborative, and precise. By combining Space Grotesk and Instrument Sans, we’ve created a typographic system that expresses personality while maintaining focus. It’s a foundation we’re excited to build on—and one that speaks clearly to the kind of work we strive to do.

Northern Quarter is a typeface first drawn in 2002. It comes in two versions: Hard and Soft. The Hard version features sharp, angular edges, while the Soft version has smoother, rounded corners. Both versions are available in three weights—Light, Regular, and Bold—providing versatility for different design needs. The typeface combines modern and industrial elements, making it suitable for a wide range of applications.

Here the typeface has been used on merchandise created for Eastern Bloc, a record store in Manchester, England.

The Best of Nev Cottee 2013–2023 brings together the finest work the singer-songwriter from Manchester has released over the span of a decade.

Pop! was specifically designed for the record sleeve. In this typeface design, many of the characters are the same, or interchangeable. For example, a T can double as a V. Choices are left to the designer, with many alternate characters for each letter. It is only intended to write minimal, possibly just single words, in any one outing, and not to be used as body copy.

Future Viewfinder is a self-awareness tool for creative direction – designed to inspire you to “put your passions in places where you want to be.” This phrase, first written in my journal, has been my guiding mantra since early 2022. It reminds me – and now invites you – to seek out spaces that celebrate and elevate your unique passions.

The main card of the interactive print piece acts as a viewfinder – its die-cut, pixellated envelope design (linked to my monogram logo) invites you to press, push, and peek into your future.

I carefully selected typefaces that bring personality to the piece while dynamically filling the negative space of the die-cut. From a heavily condensed Grandmaster to the wide proportions of Afronaut. Their placement reinforces the project’s sense of movement and direction – shifting and changing as you engage with it.

Uplifting oranges, dreamy pinks and purples, and a hint of transformational teal – sourced from GF Smith Colorplan Papers – infuse the work with vibrant, forward-thinking energy.

Loving the typeface used on this residential building, the stencil design adds a bold industrial edge, which is a perfect mix of modern and historic charm.

Britannia Mills is a development project in Manchester’s Castlefield neighbourhood.

Starting as a hidden gem in Bloomsbury, Halfcup has grown from a single café into a beloved city retreat, with locations in Kings Cross and St. Bart’s Square. Known for its friendly vibe, artisanal coffee, and vibrant brunch menu, Halfcup is a true slice of calm amid London’s energy.

Their refreshed identity is intentionally understated, creating a calm canvas that lets the vibrant dishes take centre stage.

The updated logotype is set in @frostype.xyz’s FT Polar—a typeface chosen for its refined geometric character and elegant simplicity.

At the heart of the design are minimalistic, floral-inspired graphics, used sparingly to complement rather than overpower. These organic shapes convey a sense of freshness and vitality, subtly mirroring the colourful, vibrant nature of HALFCUP’s dishes.

MadeByShape revitalised the digital presence of Skew Studio, a dynamic brand licensing agency in London. This collaboration centred on a full rebrand and the development of a new web experience designed to position Skew Studio as a leader in its field. We introduced a bold new logo, dynamic patterns, updated typography, and playful human elements to embody Skew's innovative ethos. These visual elements were harmoniously integrated across all brand touchpoints, enhancing Skew's identity.

Furthering the transformation, MadeByShape designed and developed a bespoke website utilising Craft CMS, ensuring flexibility and control over design and content, which improved both user experience and SEO performance. The website features engaging animations and parallax scrolling, creating a dynamic user journey that effectively communicates Skew Studio’s brand message. This strategic overhaul not only amplified Skew’s digital presence but also underscored our expertise in delivering comprehensive branding solutions and innovative web design.
