Carrs is a family run bakery based in Bolton, UK, “baking perfect pasties since 1938”.

Absolute were tasked with giving the existing brand a much needed refresh to bring their distinctive playful personality through the marketing communications.

Using Asap as the headline typeface, we created a bespoke typographic treatment to reflect the craft, quality and care that goes into every single one of their products.

Cover and spread from Practical Householder magazine, “from the days when your father made half of the furniture”, via Steve Collins.

The logo is in Futura Display, paired with more caps from the bold condensed members of Folio (on an angle) and Univers. “Other features” is in Grotesque No. 9 Italic. The spread shown below features Microgramma in two weights, set on a curve. “For the Space Age Boys” is stretched Gemini Computer. The text face appears to be Monotype Grotesque, with a dash of Gill Sans.

Bunk beds! Moon pictures! And storage made by parents in the days before Ikea. Note that the woman tucking them in and rolling the carpet is different to the dolly bird with Dad in the first picture.

The Chocolate Workshop is located in the middle of Market Place, Bolton UK. It sells hand-made chocolates which look like tools. The marriage of the Charcuterie font family with this particular product seems appropriate. The website of this shop also uses Charcuterie, creating a distinctive brand image

Keoghs are one of the leading providers of defendant legal and claims related services to insurers, businesses and other suppliers to the insurance sector. As a leader in the UK market, they are the only “Top 50” law firm to focus exclusively in this area.

Serving insurers, public sector and corporate organisations for over 40 years, Keoghs have developed unrivalled specialist knowledge along the way.

Their ongoing drive to be a thought leader within their market has seen a proliferation of rich and engaging content being produced. Keoghs’ existing website wasn’t sufficient to deliver the content in a user-friendly and visually attractive way so they employed the services of Absolute to build a brand new web presence that aligns with their brand and ethos.

Although primarily a digital project, Keoghs wanted to use the opportunity to develop the brand further and to bring in some much needed consistency to their marketing communications. With Usual, we introduced a typeface that could be used for both online and offline collateral. We also looked at a fresh colour palette and a set of icons so that key areas of the business could have their own identity under the main umbrella brand colour blue. A pinstriped graphic pattern was also created from the letter ‘K’, this became a directional device for usage throughout the new website.

When designing the collateral for the Incorez Custom Chemistry campaign, Absolute introduced a technical and contemporary typeface (Geogrotesque Stencil A) which reflected the chemistry and make-up of their products. Coupled with a fluid graphical device which can be adaptable to it’s surroundings. The device was based upon the types of products they work with (mainly water based) and the custom element of the offering. DIN was also used to accompany the stencil typography.
