The only typeface that has been retained from the earlier design is Millar, used for “prologue” in the second image.

I like Saol Display, but sometimes those super-thin thins can get lost when the type is dropped out of a colored background. Saol Display is combined with GT Walsheim and Tiempos.

And they still haven't fixed the kerning in that nameplate!

It’s a magazine about food and wine itineraries along Italy and throughout Europe.

Tomo Tomo redesigned all the newspapers, with the aim to produce a simple and functional layout. For this specific supplement, though, we also played a lot with the whitespace of the layout in contrast to the boldness of the big headlines composed in Schnyder and the big black lines. Graphik is used as the text typeface. Another important element of the identity is the funny and colored illustration balancing the elegance of the spreads.

We created the whole identity, balancing the familiar feeling of the newspaper with a distinct flavor. We gave to the supplement the richness and the typical approach of a monthly magazine, using many different combinations of layout and headlines in a typeface with a strong personality. At the same time, we kept it simple to be consistent with the popular identity of a big circulation national newspaper.

Tomo Tomo. License: All Rights Reserved.

Tomo Tomo. License: All Rights Reserved.

Tomo Tomo. License: All Rights Reserved.

Tomo Tomo. License: All Rights Reserved.

Tomo Tomo. License: All Rights Reserved.

Tomo Tomo. License: All Rights Reserved.

Tomo Tomo. License: All Rights Reserved.

Tomo Tomo. License: All Rights Reserved.

This post was originally published at Fonts In Use

On it introducing issue, SangBleu Empire is mostly featured in playful and colorful compositions on opening spreads. It will then be steadily used as the main titling face across the magazine, alongside SangBleu Sunrise. Other recurring typefaces are GT Pressura and Miller, that are used to set body text and captions. Every issue is also bringing a fistful of titling typefaces that'll remain exclusive to this issue. Among them, Euclid Flex was featured in February 2018 issue.

After the departure of Andre Jointe in March 2018, the magazine started to be slowly redesigned by its new art director Justin Patrick Long. Unfortunately, the SangBleu family didn't made the cut into the new design layout and last appeared in the July 2018 issue.
