Naming, identity, and development of a new digital environment for Revista Deriva. “Deriva” is the deflection of an old model, wanting to make its audience doubt our social reality while opening up the possibility of different solutions.

A collective made of journalists, photographers, documentary makers, communicators, and teachers based in Barcelona who seeks to create social journalism through their digital platform, in which they’ve been developing different types of projects as a form of social intervention.

From the graphic treatment, an appealing but disruptive identity was created in all its applications and uses, that could be still recognizable while communicating its values. Its graphic identity was based on research that strived to find the essence of the collective and translated it in two typefaces: one serif – Zangezi – to reflect a more experimental side balanced with a the more neutral Kern.

Poster series designed by Caterina Bianchini for Axe on Wax, a London based record label with artists like Chaos in the CBD, Boo Williams and Marlon Hoffstadt. The posters use a variety of fonts, including several freebies or system fonts, with Pretorian being a recurring theme.

The blue type appears to be Flames, a free digitization of Mecanorma’s Dreamline.

Lydia is a digitization of the Bold Condensed weights of Lydian.

The big type appears to be outlined Grease, a highlight version of Cooper Black.

We believe an event has the potential to transform people. It is an opportunity to seek answers, getting inspired and discover different ways of facing life. It is a great opportunity to meet people and companies in the creative field, exchange experiences and understand the industry as a whole. With this purpose in mind, AfterShock came to life.

The idea is to encourage new means of expression on what it means to be a designer according to what each establish as a professional enabler. It is not about dictating rules and giving “THE ANSWER” to all professional or existential crises. Bringing good examples up close and showing the alternatives to open the mind and help each one to be able to seek their realization in the best possible way.

We are also responsible for doing the whole creative idea behind the event. The theme chosen was bathroom. Maybe we watched a lot of MTV when we were teenagers. We created the whole fucking thing.
