For the past seven years, the Macki Music Festival has been decentralizing the traditional Parisian party circuit by offering a modern and original cultural program in Paris and its suburbs. Organized by two young collectives, the event strives each year to transmit the values that unite its initiators: curiosity, meeting and conviviality, musical eclecticism, ecological awareness and accessibility.

For the identity of the 2021 edition of the festival, and its application on multiple communication materials: website, social networks, videos, timetable, map, flags and T-shirts, the Parisian design studio Atelier Choque Le Goff has chosen to use Nirvana Bold, paired with a brightly colored palette. The geometric shapes of the typeface combined with a modular structure and bright colors creates a friendly and playful atmosphere.

Nirvana has a vivid flow: selected strokes of the lowercase u, n and m are extended past the baseline/x-height, the lowercase g is raised above the x-height, the dot on the i is shifted; all these elements give to the font an original rhythm suitable for use in connection with music.

With the aim of celebrating International Women’s Day, the Architectural Association of the Province of Santa Fe, Argentina (CAPSF), asked me to design a series of posters to promote the work of female architects. For the poster shown here, I’ve combined all-caps Grafier with Rhode for the date. The smaller text is set in GT America.

In 2021, Beijing club Zhao Dai hosted the second edition of its annual outdoor festival. Zhao Dai On Leave 招待会 took place from May 28 to May 31 at a beach of Aranya in the city of Beidaihe. Graphic design by Menslies. The typography uses Mineral by Benoît Bodhuin for the English text, with matching Chinese characters that were custom added.

The line-up has been announced and tickets made available for Way Out West 2022.

As with Glastonbury and public events around the world, Gothenburg’s Way Out West 2020 and 2021 festivals were cancelled due to the pandemic.

The Seoul Proposal is written to spur conversation and collect ideas about how Sharing Cities can collaborate, and to help stakeholders come to a common understanding and agreement about directions for collaboration, especially, responding to the Covid-19 and what will likely be its long-lasting effects.

Sandoll Jeongche 930 is used as the main typeface. The publication, published in Korean and English versions, is available for download (pdf).

Website for Daniel Heilig, a young Hungarian-German designer, charismatic artist and creative cosmopolitan, designed by Holographik.

The headers are set in Iskry, with Union used for body text.

Homecoming is a handcrafted candle company based in Vancouver, B.C. Kati Forner of Kati Forner Design created the brand identity and packaging, which features Framboisier by Quentin Schmerber, alongside Mont Heavy by Mirela Belova and Svetoslav Simov. Accompanying text is set in Aurèle Sack’s LL Brown Bold.

Method is a restaurant, bar and event space in the heart of Moscow, Russia. Built on the site of an old ceramic factory, it carries the spirit of Russian constructivist traditions.

Working with interior designers, we came up with a warm yet sharp identity, which marries the flexibility of ceramics, and rigidity of Russian modernist design aesthetics: think black square. The black plaques on the restaurant walls stretch, modify and attach to letters in the identity. Typography is flexible and clay-like - it flows and bends just like pottery.

The visual language of this – not yet rolled out – new visual identity is built on sharp typography. The capitals of Neue Plak (paired with Neue Helvetica for copy) are applied across materials and assets: merchandize, coasters and glasses, interior spaces, event brochures, website, posters and menus.

For thirty years, Michel Lepetitdidier has discreetly signed, under the name “Le Petit Didier”, a rich, free and demanding work. The expressiveness of his compositions, through the use of handwriting, painting and drawing, is accompanied by an impeccable precision of graphic and typographic construction. His total commitment, his unwavering standards and his great discretion make him, without doubt, the most (un)known French graphic designer!

This monograph, the first devoted to Le Petit Didier’s work, aims not only to give an account of his impressive graphic work but also to question the practice of graphic design today.

To design this book, Bureau 205 used the typeface Muoto by Matthieu Cortat.

A little lockdown project, attempting to learn about some of the most iconic jazz musicians whilst also doodling. For the type I settled on a combination of Parabole Display and Atlas Grotesk [not Atlas Grotesk, see comments], adding Lyon.

Format — the portfolio platform for creative professionals — has undergone a rebrand centered on the idea: “Few Can Do What You Do”.

Its campaign (at sobetter.org) brings this message to life via a tongue-in-cheek collection of videos showcasing why “Creative Minds Do It Better”. The cheeky shorts feature illustrators, photographers, designers, artists, and fashion professionals. Together with the videos comes Format’s newest chatbot, Dr. Luova Dahl, who helps you identify the type of creative mind you possess.

Ronin is martial arts magazine that focuses on Bushido, the way of the warrior. Ronin tries to reveal to the reader that martial arts are much more than fighting and that their true purpose is a path of constant personal development.
