Festival Agora stimulates an exchange of experiences, creating and strengthening connections, while it contributes to the critical reflection and analysis regarding gender inequality and the fight against sexism. Through visual culture, dialogues, workshops, poetry and music, the theme of the 200 years of Brazilian Independence was addressed, highlighting the pioneer heroines and the appearance of women in the public world.

To re-signify the idea of independence as a revolution, we sought the urban public space as a territory for artistic intervention. As a result, we created an identity with strong typography combining Agharti, Wallnutt Corps and Right Grotesk for a direct communication that visually translates the name “agora” into a sense of urgency. The powerful messages of the festival were conveyed through flags, raised as a symbol of resistance and popular call.

Festival Teal Brasil intends to rethink and reinvent the way we work. It is an environment where people can build networks, share their inspirations and practices, and propose more integral models to operate organizations. Focusing on "transition" as its central theme, the festival highlights that reinvention, adaptation and transformation are the way to the future of work.

We developed an identity with a contemporary and futuristic character, simultaneously, due to the need of projecting about the main subject of ‘work’ in a fresh way. Based on the current reality of a world in transition, we designed a logo – using Monoska and Power Grotesk – and several graphics that overlap in a mutable effect, representing possibilities of new models of work in a graphic and abstract way. Also, because of the need for an identity that would highlight the content, we used Neue Montreal for longer texts; and created a visual system of grids that offer easy adaptability for organization and application of texts and images.

Holise in use for the exhibition Desinteligência by the Brazilian artist João Livra presented at the Quase art gallery in São Paulo.

The main work in the exhibition is a star made from welded crowbars. Designer Djavan Amorim saw a certain visual similarity between the shape of the crowbar and Holise's serifs, so he chose it as the primary font for the project.

The secondary typeface is Elza Text by Blackletra foundry.

A nostalgia heavy visual identity for production company TeaTime Pictures, created by Little Troop. The identity relies on Commercial Type’s Druk Wide and a modified Ogg Display by Sharp Type. Ogg has been heavily squashed and faux-italicized with an additional stroke added for thickness and some slight rounding. Additionally some secondary type is set in The Temporary State’s Panama and GUST e-Foundry's TeX Gyre Heros Condensed (see Nimbus Sans).

Artwork by Parks Perdue for the latest EP by FBK: Think For Yourself, released at Tram Planet Records. Leto and Compacta are used for headlines. The sans serif used for track information appears to be Helvetica or similar.

Visual identity designed by NIZAR KAZAN + CO for the Swiss artist Jean Gfeller. The project includes a logotype set in Millionaire and a multi-purpose paper (heat-stamped on ivory rag paper) that allows the artist to sketch and the gallery that represents him to produce certificates of authenticity and visual supports, among other things, all using Lausanne.

Art Souterrain is a non-profit organization that exhibits artworks in Montreal’s underground city. The exhibition space is a seven kilometer path leading through the heart of Montreal’s underground passageways. Visitors can participate in various activities during the festival, including workshops, lectures, and artistic performances.

The identity for the 2022 edition, Voies-Voix Résilientes (Resilient Voices-Pathways), was designed by Paprika using Oldschool Grotesk Air for animations and posters, as well as other weights of the family for info texts and signage.

Who are these minority voices? How do they build resilience? How do they find solutions to systemic violence? It is through a desire to establish an equitable dialogue through a more egalitarian social utopia that the 2022 edition of the Resilient Voices Underground Art Festival is set. An identity created by weaving, representing this social fabric as the result of an entanglement of these singular voices; those of the festival’s artists. A series of accumulations, of additions creating the rhythm of these crossed voices; ultimate resistance to normalization.

Grafik handled the identity design, digital design and development for the portfolio website of Glasfurd & Walker, with a refined aesthetic that signifies the marriage of design and strategy whilst showing off creative work that has no limits.

The typography pairs two type families from Klim Type Foundry: Domaine Display Condensed is used for logo, intro animation and menu, while Söhne handles headlines and information throughout the website.

Visual identity and art direction by Sitoh Inc. for all day place shibuya, a hotel located in the Shibuya Ward district of Tokyo. Lausanne (by Nizar Kazan) is the font in use for all English language communication. The Japanese counterpart uses Yu Gothic.

Struggling to communicate the climate-fighting technology behind their cleaning products, CleanO2 needed a ground-up rebrand to more effectively tell their story. We utilized a radically straightforward strategy, centering the brand around the company’s innovative products: soap made with carbon captured by CleanO2.

The typographic focal point of the brand is Bagoss by Displaay Type Foundry, which arguably has the nicest looking question mark of all time. (The CleanO2 brand was developed while Bagoss was still in beta, so some details may differ from the final retail release). Bagoss had the perfect amount of friendliness imparted by its subtle stroke contrast and angular terminals. Body and supportive text is set in GT America, with Tungsten making a tiny cameo for the product weight.

The new identity design for start.gg (formerly smash.gg) was recently made public. It was developed by Studio Mega who explained on their website that “Microsoft approached Studio Mega to design an identity that reflects the ever-growing and diversifying industry.” They describe their work as “a dynamic, adaptive visual system that allows them [start.gg] to frame up unforgettable moments and represent every unique personality that makes up start.gg.”

Regarding their choice of typefaces, they remark in an interview that they developed custom letterforms for the new logo of start.gg and used Monopol by Nguyen Gobber for headlines and Microsoft’s Segoe for supporting copy. Tyler Bell, one of the designers involved in the development of start.gg’s new identity elaborates on the headline typeface Monopol the following: “We picked Monopol for its emphatic presence and slight edge. […] In addition, we felt the subtle quirks of Monopol represent the diverse and eclectic group of individuals that make up start.gg.” Although the imagery used to document start.gg’s new identity design presents a comprehensive vision, in its current state, the new design system appears to be only partially implemented.

Artificio is an independent electronic music record label, established in Antioquia, Colombia, using vinyl records for its mixes.

Being a label that was born during the pandemic, Artificio chooses to express the idea of ​​sound as a detonation that transmutes the body and allows to reconstruct a devastated world. It sought to communicate this concept of transmutation in the logo, through the superposition of two typefaces, Elastik and Sword.

Chinese Protest Recipes is a project of resistance. It is a very personal project that protests against racial inequality in the food world. In this moment, as we struggle to get through a racial pandemic, this project acts as a form of culinary and literary protest, through the lens of Chinese food.

Calling for a decolonized approach to cuisine, Chinese Protest Recipes urges us all to look beyond what has been validated by Eurocentric culinary accolades or institutions – and toward an exchange of cultural knowledge produced and perfected with patience, practice, and love. The project uses a stripped back visual language inspired by the raw emotion of protest graphics.

Started originally as a takeover on @doofmagazine, the official recipe book just dropped as a free digital download. In exchange, donations are encouraged to support Black Lives Matter. A limited edition risograph printed version, and t-shirts will be released soon, with 100% of the proceeds going to support Color of Change.

Right Grotesk is used for headlines in combination with New Diane Script. Running texts use Helvetica and Untitled Serif. An unidentified typeface is used for lines of Chinese text set in a small point size on the top and bottom of most pages [edit: it’s Lantinghei, see comments].
