Carbon dioxide removal (CDR) is a critical, emergent field of science, but it’s also rife with unanswered questions and overpromises. Isometric, a UK-based startup, set out to (re)establish trust in carbon credits through a science-led, interdisciplinary approach to carbon markets and verification. They needed a brand as rigorous and meticulous as their work, but that set them apart as a trustworthy, expert, and visionary new leader in the climate tech space.

Dinamo’s ABC Repro is the only font family in use; its unique and diverse styles and weights ensure consistency across every aspect of design, further emphasizing Isometric’s scientific rigor visually. The use of Repro’s “space S” alternate infuses a subtle playfulness that also nods to the company’s position at the vanguard of CDR and its role in helping shape the future of the field.

Kenshō Agency's identity for Solar Labs utilises a modification of Laif (New Letters) for the brand logotype, alongside extensive use of both HK Grotesk (Hanken Design Co) and Georgia Pro (Carter & Cone) throughout brand deliverables and communications.

Solar Labs' mission is to bring innovative web3 ideas to life, both for self initiated projects and client led briefs alike. The company strives to be as transparent as possible; providing secure and reliable solutions for web and product development, smart contracts and KYC services.

At Toronto Metropolitan University, Together Design Lab (TDL) is a team of planners, designers, and architects operating within an immersive partnership model to address housing issues experienced by marginalized communities. Working with interdisciplinary collaborators, TDL reimagines home environments and addresses communities’ overall well-being.

Capturing the essence of togetherness, Vanderbrand created an approachable and energetic brand identity. TDL’s brand mark is a reinvention of the plus sign, symbolizing unity. It embodies togetherness, resembling a collection of homes or a group of people. The brand mark changes and adapts to take on new forms, reflecting TDL’s values to listen, learn, and share together.

“TAKE FIVE!” is an event organised by the audiophile bar Safe Place in Nantes, France. It's a 30-hours musical journey by fifteen DJs over five days to celebrate the bar’s fifth anniversary.

Ogaf Studio developed the art direction based on the Gooper typeface, created by Very Cool Studio in homage to the famous Cooper Black, and Sligoil Micro drawn by Ariel Martín Pérez and released with Velvetyne. We designed the visuals on a modular grid with hand-drawn letterforms that can be adapted to different communication media. It's a true nod to the underground scene, and it was a real pleasure to screen-print this visual in a limited series.

Dutch interior design studio Format offers “innovative, no-nonsense custom interior and spatial solutions for people with a keen eye for craft and function”.

Having already established the foundations of their brand identity, we were brought in to take things further, refining and adding an extra dose of energy to their already solid foundation. Inspired by the precision and order of architectural plans and drawings, the branding’s layout principles follows a flexible grid system, which, while seemingly simple, offers a variety of formats and layouts to play with.

Drawing on Format’s work, the bold new brand typeface – Relative Faux by Colophon – is straight-forward and timeless. Chosen above all else for its functionality and legibility, the typeface has a complementary architectural character that acts as a subtle hint to the firm’s work and industry. Small sized text uses the proportionally spaced Relative.

Neue Machina and Neue Montreal are the brand typefaces by Figures. From the case study by Duties:

Figures is a tech-driven accounting firm that “transforms how businesses handle their finances through an AI-powered platform”.

To assist with their relaunch, we defined their brand strategy, developed a new company name and produced a compelling visual identity and website. From large established accounting houses to smaller independent operators, the financial services sector is an increasingly competitive space. How could we assist this Norwegian fintech to relaunch its offering and claim its position as a future-focused accounting business that is both innovative and trustworthy? With a project timeline of just three weeks, we had several challenges to overcome.

The identity is built around the notion of figures as diagrams and silhouettes, combined with references from ancient accounting practices and utilitarian design cues. Fusing future-forward aesthetics with sophisticated minimalism, the identity uses visually striking imagery to inject a human and historical element to offset the artificial nature of the technology space.

The logo symbol references the historical use of clay tokens and beads in accounting, resulting in a stacked form that represents stability and simplicity. Surrealist imagery using texture and depth adds a layer of authenticity and intrigue to the identity. Impactful hero typography embodies a utilitarian and futuristic aesthetic, with subtle details reminiscent of analogue production and printing techniques.

A comprehensive website was designed to showcase the various financial services and products offered by Figures. Built in Framer with CMS functionality, the site received top Lighthouse performance scores and features a unique menu navigation design and subtle animations and interactions to enhance the overall brand experience. Cards are used throughout the UI to clearly define blocks of content and to mirror rounded frame elements used throughout the identity. A subtle colour palette creates a sense of calm and clarity in a world of digital noise.

Change is a festival about architecture and climate change, a place to share ideas and create connections between architects, universities, and people. A conversation to find solutions and think about how much we impact our way of life.

Data is a tool for measuring changes, which is why we designed a variable data-driven identity system, to show through an easy-to-understand visual system all the changes and their impact on everyday life. A visual identity to attract, raise awareness, and create participation.

Hörspielsommer is a festival that takes place in Leipzig, Germany, each summer. The festival was established in 2003 and has continued since. It offers free radio play programs for both children and adults, has competitions, workshops and performances. The festival recognises established and aspiring artists.

For the 2023 festival a range of promotion material and merchandise was created by HawaiiF3. Utilising bright colours, a mix of type and illustration giving the work a playful, youthful and vibrant look

The fonts in use are Inky by Bonez Designz and MVB Grenadine by MVB Fonts.

See Saw is a design and branding agency with creativity and originality tattooed on its heart. They banish boring, push limits, and take brands on the adventure of a lifetime. Their specializations are branding, interiors, graphic design and creative campaigns.

TT Trailers became a part of See Saw’s identity, playing the part of hero typeface on the design studio’s website, where smaller texts are set in ABC Favorit.

The art biennale Anozero’21—22: Meia-Noite was curated by Elfi Turpin and Filipa Oliveira in Coimbra, Portugal. Coline Sunier and Charles Mazé’s visual identity is based on the combination of two symbols, ○ and /, extracted from Anozero’s existing graphic identity to create a continuity with previous editions. In the designers’ hands, ○ becomes a moon ? and its fluctuations ???????? and / becomes the night ////////// and ////////// its ////////// troubles and uncertainties //////////, evoking the biennale’s curatorial project. From abstraction to narrative: from a circle to the moon (or a disco ball?), from shading to twilight.

All communication materials are set in Charles Mazé’s Mercure (Abyme, 2021), Regular, Italic and Transcript. The choice of a serif typeface gives a literary and scientific aspect to the communication – an echo to the Joanina library in Coimbra and its incarnation of western knowledge – and differentiate the design from the past visual identities of Anozero.

Climate change is by far the biggest problem facing our world, and Dimensional Energy has created a bold solution: transforming carbon dioxide into sustainable aviation fuel and other everyday products like surf wax. As they worked to scale their technology, Dimensional partnered with Zeus Jones to evolve their brand strategy, positioning, and brand identity to help them usher in this new future of energy.

The new identity of Dimensional Energy is a brilliant display of Pangram Pangram’s Neue Machina Collection.

At Hondo Studio we have crafted the visual identity for Cultural Third, the umbrella brand that houses and funds creative passions from emerging talent across the globe – spanning art, fashion, music, and more.

The concept originated from the third culture kid experiences of founders David and Arnold – global nomads who have absorbed artistic influences from their travels without belonging to a single location. This inspired them to build a platform celebrating worldwide creativity.

The designers add:

Drawing inspiration from the semiotics of Amharic writing (directly tied to one founder’s roots) and asemic writing, we designed a variable, adaptable logo that morphs seamlessly to suit Cultural Third’s multifaceted ventures. The fluid letterforms evoke the malleability of cultural identity in our globalised world.

The “C3rd” logo is custom drawn. All accompanying text is set in Bastardo Grotesk by Giulia Boggio and Rector by Hrvoje Živčić (Production Type).
