Some interesting customization was done for the title: double underlines that blend into certain letters; a flourished, angled crossbar and differing leg lengths for the A; and extended and shifted arms of the & and swash M.

While most community cookbooks have a reach limited to a specific time and place, some do go onto wider acclaim and use, as is the case with some of the cookbooks produced by Junior League associations. One example of such a cookbook is the Rochester chapter's Applehood & Motherpie. The cookbook has gone through at least 17 print runs, numbering over 250,000 copies. In 1990, it was inducted into the Walter S. McIlhenny Hall of Fame for community cookbooks.

Applehood is set overwhelmingly in varying weights of ITC Bookman, with titles and other key text using swash alternates. The one small exception is that the opening initials to passages dedicated to anecdotes and tips use swash neo-Bookman Bold Italic instead.

A green apple next to a recipe indicates that it ranked very well amongst the cookbook’s testers.

The Rochester area is a large producer of apples, thus the title and motif (and numerous recipes featuring the fruit).

The crease that runs horizontally across the cover is designed to be bent so as to allow the book to stand upright.

This kitchen poster was made by Berlin-based illustrator Louisa Schwartz a.k.a. Ectomorphe. It was inspired by a German cookbook from 1981, as shown in this YouTube short, complete with a traced version of the title in Eightball. The monospaced font used for the line below is Monaco [see comments].

Book accompanying the exhibition »Ty i Ja«. Lajfstajlowy magazyn z Peerelu (English: “Ty i Ja”. A Lifestyle Magazine in Communist Poland at the Dom Spotkań z Historią (DHS), or History Meeting House, in Warsaw. It was designed by Kuba Maria Mazurkiewicz using Softcore and Pretty.

The exhibition “Ty i Ja”. A Lifestyle Magazine in Communist Poland at the History Meeting House is the first comprehensive presentation of the phenomenon of a magazine that, despite the era’s austerity policies, showcased the lifestyle of Europe's middle class. Displaying fashion and design, the magazine itself was a carefully designed object. The visual design was initially crafted by Roman Cieślewicz, later succeeded by Elżbieta and Bogdan Żochowski. Ty i Ja reproduced drawings by Picasso and Topor, reprinted works by Baldwin and Bulgakov, with fashion commentary by Jarosław Iwaszkiewicz and design insights by Oskar Hansen. It's often said that the magazine was “a window to the West,” but it was also a product of a modernizing Poland after the thaw, where reminders about brushing teeth were still needed, and dishes like leczo were presented as gourmet cuisine.

Dave West’s slick standalone italic with swashy caps was used for the cover of The Leftovers Cookbook. First published in 1969 by David White, this is Grosset & Dunlap’s abridged paperback edition from 1972. It has the same cover illustration by Loretta Trezzo, who also might have done the typography.

Teen Cuisine, A Beginner’s Guide to French Cooking, published in 1969 and designed by Peter Max. The cookbook by Abby Gail Kirsch and Sandra Bangilsdorf Klein features menu suggestions and simplified recipes for preparing soups, meats, vegetables, and desserts in the French manner. It also includes a glossary of cooking terms and describes special utensils and techniques.

The pages feature intensely vibrating color combinations and gradient-on-gradient text, as well as Art Nouveau inspired 1960s illustrations of seemingly recipe unrelated subjects.
