SET is a free, non-commercial project made within the Visual Communication degree program at the Bauhaus-Universität Weimar, under the supervision of Marcel Saidov.

A magazine that deals with beauty. And the moment it ends. Or continues.

The first issue contains two magazines and two inlays, designed and published independently by Lilli Sörries (design), Jülide Alemdar (editorial), and Laura Hörning (photography). Typefaces used are LT Quetta by Victoria Englund and OO Lyga by Samira Schneuwly and published on Outline Online.

The first issue was published in an edition of 150 copies. It has 80 pages, measures 223×297mm, and was offset printed in HKS colors.The staple-bound magazine comes in shrink-wrapped packaging. Each copy includes two original photographs selected from a set of 11.

The Matcha Kyōto is a modern expression of heritage and craft. Inspired by the tea fields of Uji, Kyoto, the brand captures the quiet beauty and precision of Japanese tea culture.

The identity blends structure and softness, using a restrained grid, minimal typography and natural textures to reflect purity and calmness. Every detail of the identity is designed to be felt as much as seen.

The packaging and printed materials use textured, uncoated stocks to mirror the raw, organic qualities of stone-ground matcha. Subtle grain, soft shadows and fine lines create a quiet tactility that reflects the care behind every handpicked leaf.

Each element of the identity was considered to evoke a sense of calm, craft and connection. A continuation of the brand’s visual language in physical form. From the tea-rich hometown of Uji, Kyōto, to the world.

Voix Off : imprimerie de femmes (“Voix Off: women’s printer”) deals with a non-mixed printing company founded by four activist women from the MLF (Women Liberation Movement) in Paris in 1982 (Voix Off translates to “Voice Over”). By printing texts written by fellow women, feminist and lesbian magazines, posters, pamphlets and books, they showed resistance to male domination over the industry.

The book is the first release by Cahier des typotes. Their collection intends to showcase singular women in history and visual arts while questioning women’s positions in the editorial creation world. The typefaces used for their publications (Knif and Tongari) were chosen from the A is for catalog as an effort to support a French foundry run by a woman, Émilie Rigaud.

Unspoken Stories: An Index of Furniture Stores in New York City was designed as a student project for the Special Topics course 2022 at the Pratt Institute, NYC 2022.

The book, set in ABC Monument Grotesk, discusses the diversity of New York City by recording selected furniture stores in the city. It includes introductions, images, information about the stores, and conversations happening in them. The introductions are collected from the stores’ official websites, unless cited otherwise.

MO de Movimiento wanted to create a brand around a project that was sustainable in the extreme. The project is a cosy restaurant built in an old theater that uses recycled materials from the space. All the staff are in a moment where they find themselves at risk of marginalization, the ingredients are the highest quality, locally sourced and organic products and the interior design and furniture are created to exude sustainably down to the smallest detail. We were asked to create a brand that represents all this and also opens doors for future projects.

Our proposal speaks to sensitivity as a core value. We don’t want to raise awareness, we don’t want to educate anyone about sustainability. We decided that the brand should speak for itself, a sensitive body that reacts to its environment and circumstances.

MO doesn't need to raise awareness or educate anyone about sustainability. It speaks directly and raw about what they do, without embellishments and pretensions. This drove us to a brutalist language, which is also aligned with the cultural consciousness of the audience in which MO wants to be reflected.

Reckless Neue (Displaaay) works in perfect harmony with our rationalist best friend ABC Monument Grotesk (Dinamo) giving us that brutalist look and feel that we were looking for.

What started as a simple machine learning experiment quickly turned into a full book. The Absence of Reason brings forth Monsters is an exploration of how old and
new techniques in the field of art can be combined to create something new, how and if an algorithm understands a data set consisting of fine art and how it deals with said data. A machine learning model was trained with Francisco de Goya’s Desastres de la Guerra and used to generate a new series of images, which were then set in relation to the original titles.
