Brand design studio Hello Comrade created a type-centric identity for AMO Tequila. In a category so often dressed in ornament, this feels like a clear, confident pour. ⁠

While logo and headings are in all-caps BN Dime, supported by Alternate Gothic, all body copy uses Halyard Display. Darden Studio’s sans serif features for text on the bottle labels and the website alike. There’s something special about seeing Halyard carry a brand like AMO Tequila, bold, front and center, without distraction.⁠

Italian Plate No1 in use for the identity and branding of hard seltzer brand Gloria d’Italia. The wordmark is based on Seventies, with a modified g.

The website additionally uses Neue Haas Grotesk.

The multi-award-winning McJaggery is made with natural sugarcane jaggery for a clean, balanced rum. Also containing light notes of tropical fruit and green citrus, this rum is perfect for cocktails such as mojito and daiquiri or McJaggery and ginger beer favorites.

The logo was designed to look tinkered-with, with letters that trial how wide they should be as it steps boldly down the bottle, even if in stops and starts. The there’s the product story scribbled on the bottle like a collection of Rob’s notes.

The logotype is set in Canopée. It’s accompanied by Andalé Mono and what looks like handwriting.

Musim is a fresh juice and beverage business based in Jakarta, with a graphic identity carried by the typeface Gaya. The beverages are introduced as follows:

Inspired by the natural rhythms of Indonesia's seasons, Musim was created to offer a unique drinking experience that reflects the diverse array of natural produce and vibrant cultures across the archipelago.

Scottish studio Freytag Anderson write about the packaging and brand identity they designed for Woven Whisky:

Visually, we stripped away the clichés. The custom frosted brown apothecary-style bottle is tactile and unexpected. Labels are minimal, each release numbered, named, and paired with its own distinctive graphic—an expression of the blend itself. The core range stands apart with a more pared-back identity, anchoring the brand while the limited editions build intrigue and momentum.

Luzi Type’s Spezia is used on the front of the packaging in all caps, with some details on the back in lowercase. On the website, Spezia also appears in its SemiMono form.

Flip is a newly-born brand of canned flavored waters, made in Switzerland. It adopts a fun, “I’m not a soda” communication directed towards soda-addicted / water-bored adults.

The logo sports NaN Fiasco in its blackest weight, showing the /fl ligature with its misaligned stem. The font is also re-used for headlines, in all caps, on their website. GT Maru is used everywhere else, in its medium weight. The duo of the black glitchy geometric sans and slightly-bold rounded sans make for a very friendly typographic palette, almost childish and leaning in the direction of the candy company Haribo. But the use of a subtle colour palette and of flat colors brings the language back to a more serious and adult realm.

Tozi Superfoods is a family-founded, Mexican-American food and beverage company inspired by heritage and the spirit of Toci, the Aztec goddess of health.

Tozi brings ancient wisdom into the modern world. At its core, the identity embraces bold, symmetrical shapes and vibrant colors, echoing the geometric details of Aztec stone carvings and architecture. The logomark, embodying Tozi, is a dynamic element that adapts to highlight key aspects of the brand story—whether through sacred ingredients or symbolic icons. Just as health is multifaceted, so too is Tozi's visual language, weaving together ancient influences with a modern sensibility to create a timeless and contemporary system.

Colima Cero, a non-alcoholic malt-based drink from Cervecería de Colima, embraces a bold yet welcoming visual identity. The design brings together Nichrome by Mass-Driver, with its retro-futuristic charm, and Sofia Sans Extra Condensed by Lettersoup, which adds a sense of structure and clarity.

Atelier Constant Berger (Pays de Herve, Belgium) produces a cider made from various types of apples grown in untreated high-stem orchards. These orchards are part of local agriculture with no treatments and rich in biodiversity. Shown here is the packaging designed for their new product: Cidre Brut in a can.

The packaging and the 3D visualization were made by me, Baudouin Willemart. The logo is set in Fatso Regular by Mykolas Saulytis, paired with Formula by Pangram Pangram for the body text.

Sant’Or is the first certified biodynamic winery in Greece. As this is an important advantage of the winery, Kommigraphics were assigned the redesign of the winery’s labels, with the aim of enhancing the biodynamic and vegan nature of the different wines it produces.

The design of the labels refers to the fauna of the area Santameri in Achaea, which is where the Sant’Or winery is located. Through an abstract and at the same time archaic-ish design of the illustrated animals and insects, they aimed at the emotional and direct connection of the consumer with the product and consequently with the winery.

The logotype is set in Cako. The accompanying sans appears to be GT America Expanded.

Gordita is used for the design studio’s presentation, but is not part of the winery’s identity.

Moksha is a New Zealand-brewed, India-inspired gin brand. Borrowing spices and flavors found in Masala Chai (cinnamon, cloves, cardamom), the gin brand pays tribute to its inspiration through a wordmark pairing the name in both Devenagari and Latin associated with illustrations of a lush jungle.

From a Brand Identity interview with Charlotte Sole, Design Director at Tomorrow:

The wordmark was set in the open-source Le Murmure by Jérémy Landes, using the typeface’s catching beauty. On the bottle, it’s seen flanked by the product name – in Farmacia – and a second wordmark, set in Pancho Devanagari by Indian Type Foundry, which quickly nods to the spirit’s ties to India. Depending on the context, the wordmarks can appear close to each other, and sometimes, are even entangled to create a striking lockup.

On top of the wordmark, Le Murmure is also used across the brand for all titles. These three typefaces are also accompanied by Commuters Sans in all caps for sub-headlines, UI, and introductory paragraphs, and Right Grotesk Wide for all body copy.

When Moksha is only sold in New Zealand (for now), one could ask themself what this Devanagari wordmark is here for besides the obvious answer being exoticism, contributing to the Indian feeling of the brand while only the inspirations behind it are actually linked to the subcontinent.

Maison Ladore is a refined collection of contemporary table wines, offering a modern selection of wines sourced from around the world. Ladore was developed in partnership between Arterra Canada and culinary entrepreneur Cassandra Loignon.

Memory Studio was responsible for the brand development including the name, concept, visual identity, and product line, with product visualization handled by Bolide Studio. A key design element is the use of Flecha Brônzea, featured on the woodwork. Flecha S is used for smaller type on the bottle labels.

Brick Lane Drinks worked with Another Kind Studio to update their branding and design new labels for their flagship beer range. The new bottles use a bold primary colour palette and punchy typography to sit alongside a new minimal isometric brick logo.

The main logo lock up uses BN Canteen by Brandon Nickerson. Supporting banner text uses Flatface Grosy Rounded.

Bringing together an East Asian drink with Western European Renaissance writing might appear audacious. But in fact it turns out to be an intercultural love match where “craftsmanship” is the core value.

Breathing Tea is a small business based in Hong Kong that fully focusses on producing all sorts of Kombucha tea. As of fall 2024 the firm is represented in six places across Hong Kong and offers an online shop. Name and website of the brand make it clear that the purpose of the enterprise is to offer mindfully handcrafted brews, following the centuries-old tradition.

And it is here where you can see how well the chosen typeface fits in: Francesco was designed by Franck Jalleau on the basis of early Italian Renaissance printing, especially from the presses of Aldus Manutius. The typeface’s name pays tribute to Francesco Griffo who was the punchcutter of Manutius and is seen as one of the central figures in transforming Humanist calligraphy into typography.

Instead of copy-pasting recurring elements of type design, like for instance the serifs, Franck Jalleau strived to emulate the spirit of early punchcutting craftsmanship and to individually balance each letter in its own right, leading to more variation in those details.

Yet Francesco is not a mere revival, but a contemporary take on the Renaissance topic. Most noticeable are certainly the filled black counters of a and e, a characteristic that makes the typeface recognizable and therefore suitable for identity projects. Francesco comes with a variety of stylistic alternates and also provides full Greek and Cyrillic character sets. It was published by Production Type in 2017.

That same year appeared the geometric Halcyon by Jonathan Gibson, the complementary face used on the website of Breathing Tea.

Francesco is used with ample letterspacing. In the logotype, the letter i is represented by the dot only. The compact logo version combines a single letter B (modified to have one open counter) with that floating dot.

Social media typography doesn’t have to be loud or sloppy: a customer testimonial is carefully set using Francesco in roman, italic and small caps, with a discretionary st ligature and hanging punctuation

Kombucha in the making

Drawing upon the rich heritage of Jalisco’s agave craftsmanship, ALMAVE infuses centuries of distillation artistry into each bottle of their non-alcoholic Blue Agave spirit. With Iván Saldaña's expertise and Lewis Hamilton's passion for greatness, the brand blends tradition and innovation to create a revolutionary product.

Almave’s brand identity was designed by Industry and Oscar Olivas in collaboration with Copper and art direction from Marrufo. It uses TT Norms (logo and headlines) and Bastardo Grotesk (body copy and social media). The accompanying serif is unidentified. [edit: it’s GT Alpina, see comments.]

The logo is based on TT Norms Black with a bevel effect.

Oliver’s Custom Coffee is a specialty coffee brand from the folks at Olympia Coffee, featuring exclusive and high-end selections by Oliver Stormshak, a renowned coffee expert and roaster.

Needmore Designs was brought on board to help bring the brand to life, creating everything from the logo and brand, to the website, to the packaging. The design of the bags was based on vintage jazz records, particularly releases from the Blue Note label.

“On the packaging design, we were really inspired around the idea of the bags mimicking a 7″ single on vinyl,” Stormshak told Daily Coffee News. “We also took inspiration from both jazz albums and early new wave and punk designs. I love the idea [that] when we drop a coffee it’s like a single hitting the airwaves.”

The choice of Dunbar throughout this project was a no-brainer for everyone involved. It worked great on the website and for copy at small sizes, as well as for large display use on the packaging and other print uses. It was also a delightful coincidence that Oliver’s is very focused on Hawaiian coffees, and CJ Dunn, the designer of Dunbar, hails from Hawaii.

Cafe KYVE in Seoul opened in September 2024. The communication – packaging, signage, and social media – is based on the combination of Millionaire Script and Roman with a custom blocky logo. The contrast between the bold letters of the logo and the refinement of the Millionaire typeface, all combined with a very simple layout, gives a clean, direct, and no-frills look.

Mathilde Kœnig is the creative mind behind the elegant and minimalist visual identity for Hugo Saulnier-Blache’s organic wine range, produced in Montlaur, France.

Drawing inspiration from the natural quality of the wines, Mathilde designed sleek and refined labels that emphasize simplicity and sophistication.

She carefully selected the Flexible typeface by Art Grootfontein to add a modern yet timeless touch to the branding, ensuring the wines stand out on the shelf while reflecting their artisanal roots. The secondary typeface is BR Hendrix by Brink.

This is the story of a label that becomes six. The same label idea that responds to six variations – and which allows for many more, always different and always recognizable.

But we don't end there, the Inspira design goes further: this is the story of a design that emphasizes the idea that wine is culture: Inspira plays with the metaphor that wine is poetry. For this reason, it dresses its wines with verses by six key authors of Catalan literature who have expressly lent their poems to dress these Certificate of Origin Terra Alta wines.

Each bottle of the collection provides information about its author, as well as a bibliographic recommendation so that the reader can stretch the thread and extend the link with the culture beyond the wine itself.

With the creation of different label models for the same wine, we motivate the collector aspect of the consumer. With the elegance that comes from subtlety, by making different models available we propose to pair a wine with different texts and live the experience of how wine and writing take on new nuances and sensations, as they accompany each other.

Finally, with this versatile label, we commend the passion for poetry through wine. For this reason, each text is accompanied by a bibliographical recommendation and a pinch about its author.

Pangram Pangram’s Migra is used in all caps for the Teixinha wines. It’s supported by Optimo’s Piek, the brand typeface of the client, Herdade da Malhadinha Nova, an unidentified sans, and handwritten text.

From 327 Creative Studio:

The challenge was the creation of a new identity for Teixinha — the new Malhadinha sub-brand, while maintaining a conceptual link to the work that has been developed by them over time. Considering that since 2003, it’s the new generation of the family that leaves their mark on Malhadinha wines through creative illustrations; we determined that the link to be maintained should be to continue this tradition, presenting them with a new challenge: through writing, to construct a narrative of memories about what makes Teixinha special to them.

The concept will also extend to visitors (when the tasting room opens its doors) who will be able to leave their messages and experiences on blank labels, fostering interaction between them and the brand. The colours that envelop each wine reflect the predominant tones present in the space. The typography, with a classical foundation, takes on a contemporary aesthetic through its details and endings.

Considering that the wine will be stored in concrete barrels, we crafted a medal from the same material, with the inscription of Herdade da Malhadinha Nova, in order to reinforce the main brand of this product range. From the labels to the boxes, all materials and finishes were selected with the utmost precision to ensure the positioning of the products and to uphold the sustainable responsibility characteristic of HMN.
