Dinamit by Revolver Type plays an important role in the rebranding of Eurocept Homecare by Doordacht.

Eurocept Homecare is a home care organization that plays a leading role in moving specialist care to the patient’s familiar environment. Because they have the entire chain of medicine preparation, medical technology and home care in their own hands, Eurocept is of enormous added value to both the patient and the doctor. Eurocept's multidisciplinary approach is the blueprint for how they can continue to meet the increasing demand for care in an aging society.

On the website and also elsewhere in the identity, Dinamit is paired with Quincy CF.

Eurocept has all kinds of divisions: from medical technology and drug preparation to nursing and clinic care. All these divisions work together via one healthcare information platform, a platform where the doctor can request care and the patient has immediate insight into his or her treatment.

Doordacht has brought all these different names together under one brand: Eurocept Homecare. They are not separate operating companies, but collaborating disciplines. These disciplines together make the brand promise come true as we have defined it: further in care nearby.

The rebranding of one of Europe’s most eminent research institutes, the Paul Scherrer Institute PSI in Würenlingen, Switzerland, was handled by Scholtysik.

The Swiss agency developed a dynamic logo that is constantly being formed and re-formed from tiny particles. The resulting shapes are inspired by PSI’s diverse research fields, such as quantum technology, neutron scattering, protein folding or atmospheric chemistry.

The PSI design system creates a new variety of expression. A free-style imagery, a broad colour palette and a variable layout offer great creative freedom. Precise language, clean typography and high-quality photography convey scientific excellence.

Scholtysik commissioned a slightly customized version of Revolver Type’s Ritual. Dubbed Accelerate, PSI’s exclusive typeface contains the complete Latin and Greek alphabets, as well as the mathematical symbols and special characters of all European languages. Its expression is factual, clear and precise. It is contrasted with an intense, pure colour palette. It corresponds to the abstract scientific topics and the often synthetic visualisations of the research results.

Specimen for Accelerate, PSI’s custom version of Ritual

For the exhibition graphics and wayfinding system of the Lugdunum, Studio Gourdin used Dinamit by Revolver Type.

On Studio Gourdin’s website, we can read:

Dinamit by Revolver Type Foundry is the brand typeface of InPost. The new visual identity was designed in 2019 by the award-winning global creative agency Dragon Rouge.

InPost is a Polish logistics operator offering classic courier services and parcel delivery to parcel lockers. Dragon Rouge was “tasked with reinventing the company’s image as that of a bold innovator and of imbuing the brand with energy characteristic of start-ups.” This was achieved largely by the use of “new, kinetic typography”.

The crisp and uncompromisingly wide Dinamit is used for everything from signs, online and offline adverts, courier uniforms, and more. On the bilingual website and in the mobile app, Dinamit is combined with Montserrat.

InPost’s Paczkomat is an automated booth for the self-service collection of parcels. This special edition was designed to celebrate the 5000th Paczkomat in their network.

The new uniform designs for couriers were inspired by fashion trends rather than work clothes styles. They depict InPost’s slogan “Out of the box”, here in all-caps Dinamit.

Launched earlier this year, Neo.Life is a new media company that aims to “[make] sense of the Neobiological Revolution”:

Mapping the brain, sequencing the genome, decoding the microbiome, extending life, curing diseases, editing mutations. We live in a time of awe and possibility — and also enormous responsibility. Are you prepared?

Following Nicholas Vokey’s art direction, the website was designed by Nathan Hass and team at Upstatement. Three different grotesks have been paired for the typography. What might sound like a recipe for disarray works remarkably well here. Each of the typefaces has been assigned a clear role.

Px Grotesk (Optimo) was chosen for the logo – where its O with the straight-sided counter can shine – in oversized caps that exceed the bounds of the canvas. It appears for infographics, too. Klim’s Untitled Sans Regular is the text face, with the Medium weight used to mark article beginnings. Caps from the Black weight lend their heft in headings. It’s often dialed down a notch again by the use of outline effects.

The secret star is Dinamit (Revolver Type), which is used for everything between and beyond, like teasers, subheadings, drop caps, bylines, category links, forms, and more. Lukas Schneider’s contemporary re-evaluation of DIN Breitschrift, the extended member of the German standard typeface, is used in three of its seven weights (Extralight, Regular, Bold), plus occasional italics.

Neo.Life was founded by Jane Metcalfe, who previously started Wired and Tcho. The website was a Digital Medal Finalist in the Society of Publication Designers’ competition, and
was awarded the Society of News Design bronze medal for website design.

Newson by Revolver Type Foundry is the brand typeface of PSW Engineering.

The Ingolstadt-based company is a wholly owned subsidiary of Audi AG and develops solutions for the automotive future. PSW uses Newson throughout their visual identity. The sans serif appears in all-lowercase letters for the wordmark. In the corporate magazine, the functional typeface family with the unobtrusive appearance is featured in all of its seven weights, plus the corresponding italics. The website is rendered exclusively in Newson, too. Here it’s used in Light, Regular, and Medium weights, and predominantly in light shades of gray against a dark blue background, for headlines, body copy, and menus.

Newson was specifically designed as a quality choice for corporate design and branding projects. It was given proportions and features that work well both for text and display sizes, in print and on screen. It’s rewarding to see it used exactly in the intended way. Kudos to Tom Klein, Hamburg, who did the branding and strategy, and diesdas.digital, Berlin, who developed the website.

Dinamit in use for Next47, an independent global venture firm established by Siemens. The current corporate website was developed by Fuseproject. The wide grotesque by Revolver Type Foundry is used in Bold, Semibold, and Light weights, for all display purposes, like hero texts, headlines, and pull quotes. It also is specified for labels, key data, and menus. Dinamit is paired with the serif Merriweather for body copy.

The Harvard Gazette is the official news website for Harvard University. Upstatement was recently commissioned to reimagine the venerable publication. The new font palette combines the sans serif Dinamit (Revolver Type Foundry) and the serif Nocturno (Typotheque).

Our research and design explorations took inspiration from the Gazette archives to independent print magazine to modern data visualization applications. We think we landed on a logomark and visual language just right for modern-day Harvard — authoritative, accessible, and dynamic.

Dinamit is a wide grotesque that started out as Lukas Schneider’s reinterpretation of DIN Breitschrift for contemporary editorial needs. The Gazette uses several of its seven weights, in a range of sizes: Dinamit appears in headings, subheads, teaser texts, captions, and many other roles. Nikola Djurek’s Nocturno was chosen as the typeface for longer texts, with Nocturno Display for article headlines. The logo is in Maple (Process Type Foundry)

Damien Text is the primary typeface used for Yearbook of Type 3. This compilation published by Slanted “presents an independent selection of new typefaces created all over the world—from larger publishers to smaller, independent typographers and foundries.” The third edition (after 2013 and 2015) brings together recently released typefaces by no less than 91 foundries. The collection of typeface portraits is enriched by articles and essays by Boris Kochan, David Jonathan Ross, Ferdinand P. Ulrich, Laurence Penney, Rainer Erich Scheichelbauer, Stefan Hattenbach, and Viktor Nübel.

Damien is used for all text. Small caps from the bold weight were chosen for the rotated running heads. The contemporary serif typeface by the Revolver Type Foundry is paired with headings in Berlingske Sans Display. Damien adorns the book’s spine and back cover, too. The front cover shows a potpourri of other recent fonts, featuring the interlocking Gustan Display Forma, Fino Stencil (with OO ligature), Pilot, Italian Plate No2 Extra Condensed (on an escalating baseline), and Saol Display for the number. The publisher’s logo is in Suisse Int’l.

Damien (Revolver Type Foundry) is used alongside U8 (Fatype) in Koschke. This 152-page book was published by the German Film Critics’ Association on the occasion of the Woche der Kritik which took place during the Berlinale film festival in February 2018:

Berlin Critics’ Week was founded four years ago with the activist intent of casting a different light on film culture, of questioning the many routines of the “business” (our own included), of conceiving of criticism as action, as an endeavor that shouldn’t just observe from afar, but also create incentives. It’s in this spirit that the Critics’ Week 2018 has set out on a new initiative, publishing the first edition of a book to accompany the program.

Art direction: Kai Bergmann and Matthias Neumann.

Quotes are set in a bold weight of Damien Display. By activating the stylistic alternates for diamond-shaped dots and punctuation marks, the typeface’s sharp character is further emphasized.

The essays are set in Damien throughout. The contemporary serif typeface family is employed in several weights; for headings, body text, marginal notes, page numbers, and running heads.

Some of the large quotes in Damien Display use the U8 typeface for inline emphasis of single words. Here it is Style as defined by Charles Bukowski.

In this section, Damien Bold (heading) is paired with a very light weight of U8 (author’s name).

Damien has rather economical proportions, while U8 is wide. By pairing the two contrasting typefaces in a single line, the designers create an eye-catching, slightly disturbing effect.

German and English texts are set in the same cut of Damien. German-style (single) guillemets are also used for marking quotations in the English parts. Damien Light was chosen for footnotes.

In this composition, Damien and U8 take turns. The larger quotes are in the serif, the small ones in the sans.

The opening page for the appendix combines Damien Display Light for English with U8 Medium for German.

Mondial is prominently featured in the current issue of PAGE, the leading German graphic design magazine. Revolver Type Foundry’s revival of Hans Bohn’s 1930s Didone comes in two subfamilies, Mondial Display and Mondial Text.

PAGE chose the latter, with its wider proportions and sturdier strokes, and exclusively uses its italics. Mondial appears on the magazine cover as well as for headlines and pull quotes. The other typefaces shown are from PAGE’s standard typographic palette, see this previous entry on Fonts In Use.

Damien Text is used for all body copy on NZZ Bellevue. The online magazine was developed by Edenspiekermann as

“a new platform for NZZ (Neue Zürcher Zeitung), bringing together three print-only publications (Z, NZZ am Sonntag, and Stil) to become Switzerland’s premier lifestyle guide, … offering inspirational and informative content across fashion, food, design and more.”

Damien by Revolver Type Foundry was designed specifically for editorial typography. It combines contemporary character with untroubled on-screen readability and is hence the perfect choice for the project. Damien is complemented by Beausite. The high-contrast sans serif by Fatype is used in all its three optical sizes—Grand, Slick, and Fit—for headlines, teasers, captions and navigational items.

Damien Text comes with small caps, fractions and different sets of numerals. This number-heavy feature about Swiss watches shows the default old style figures.

All four weights of Damien Text come with corresponding italics. On NZZ Bellevue, Damien Text Italic is used for footnotes (shown) and author names.

All Classical is Portland, Oregon’s classical radio station. Their 2016 billboard campaign was developed and designed by Studio Jelly. The purely typographic series represents the largest application of Damien so far.

Damien was started in 2013 as Lukas Schneider’s graduation project in the Type and Media program at the KABK, The Hague, and officially released in 2017 with his Revolver Type Foundry in Text and Display sizes.

Gute Aussichten. New German Photography 2013/14 is published on the occasion of the annual media and exhibition project founded in 2004 to promote young photographers in Germany.

The typeface family used throughout the catalog is Damien by Lukas Schneider. The book design by Pixelgarten is the first official use of the yet unreleased fonts. [Update: Damien was released in May 2017 with Revolver Type Foundry.] Damien started life in the Type and Media program at the Royal Academy of Arts (KABK) in The Hague. The family spans both Text and Display styles. Its look “evolved from a personal preference for pointy shapes, high contrast and straightforwardness.” Damien’s striking features include a wedge-shaped ‘t’ bar, a spiky arc for ‘a’, and diamond-shaped dots – latter are probably made available as an optional stylistic set. For the text settings, the book designers decided to mix the upright Bold with Italics from the Regular.
