Black Boton was designed by Albert Boton (*1932) in 1970 for Delpire, and distributed by French phototype studio Hollenstein. Here it’s used in all caps on the German sleeve of the single “Follow Your Daughter Home” by Canadian rock band The Guess Who.

Desertshore (1970) is the third solo album by Nico, with arrangements by John Cale. Nigel Waymouth’s cover design uses a version of Française légère, originally designed by George Auriol and first cast by Peignot & Fils in 1902. Alcibiades (1993) is a digital interpretation.

Rare German 2nd release of that song, with misprinted title on the sleeve. The first release came in 1964 with “Now I Must Go” as flipside. This issue came in 1966 — why?

My edition from high school where every German student has to read it (at least that was the case in the 1990s). I loved Max Frisch as an author ever since. The Suhrkamp Taschenbuch series was designed by Willy Fleckhaus in 1971 — simple, typographic, in many bright colors and in one bold typeface*. The design survived more or less unchanged until 2004, with the occasional addition of illustrations or photos like here.

Airport 1975 is a 1974 disaster film and the first sequel to the successful 1970 film Airport. It stars Charlton Heston and Karen Black and is directed by Jack Smight. Airport ’77 is the next film in the franchise. Both films were typical blockbusters — hits at the box office and failures among critics. Airport 1975 was included in the book 1978 book “The Fifty Worst Films of All Time”.
