Traulha Frenchie is a custom style of Traulha Regulara for the restaurant Frenchie To Go. Graphic design by Content Design Lab (now named Abmo).

Frenchie: It was Jamie Oliver who gave Gregory Marchand this nickname in the kitchens of his Fifteen restaurant in London, and the moniker has stuck ever since. So it was a natural thing for him to lend that name to the restaurant he opened in April 2009 in Paris’ second arrondissement.

Abdo provides a firsthand account of this peaceful movement, allowing its moderate leaders, street preachers, scholars, doctors, lawyers, men and women of all social classes to speak for themselves. Challenging Western stereotypes, she finds that this growing number of Islamists do not seek the violent overthrow of the government or a return to a medieval age. Instead, they believe their religious values are compatible with the demands of the modern world.

Nothing groundbreaking here – just a solid cover. ITC Quorum supplies strong capitals that are worthy of a brief and powerful title. Although it was released in the 1970s, Quorum doesn’t feel overtly of its time, especially when avoiding the more obvious grooviness of its lowercase and heaviest weights. The near-monoline forms have an inscriptional quality, and a certain seriousness worthy of the subject, but avoid stereotypes or outdated pastiche. The only reference to traditional Islam is in the minimal border pattern and ornaments.

The Brazilian Trade and Investment Promotion Agency (Apex-Brasil) works to promote Brazilian products and services abroad, and to attract foreign investment to strategic sectors of the Brazilian economy. During the Salone de Milano, one of the world’s most prestigious weeks in the interior design world, the agency partnered with the Brazilian Embassy in Italy to show the talent of Brazilian designers.

Brought together by a unified narrative that offers sensorial experiences, the exhibition Brazil: Essentially Diverse is an expression of the plurality and colours that sprout from Brazil, presenting the uniqueness of their material culture and focusing on its roots and transformative power.

Covering the two floors of the Palazzo della Permanente in Milan, Italy, visitors were taken on a sensorial journey through four distinct zones: essentially plural; innovative; sustainable, and creative. The creations are not only to be viewed, but felt, smelt, listened to, and, yes, even tasted.

Tenez, with its distinct capital R and an elegant presence, was chosen for the title, being set in large backlit panels and signage spread throughout the exhibition.

Motiva Sans is used for supporting information and details. Few people know that Motiva is named Motiva Sans because it started out as Motiva Modern, a didone version that was in the plans, making an essentially diverse family.

Tenez has roots in this idea, even though it departs from Motiva’s proportions to become its own thing. They make a good match and it’s very nice to see them side by side on such a major event.

The main typeface is Corvinus fett, just like in another Schlitz ad from 1965.

Soil 2017 is a book published by Slow Money, a non-profit dedicated to catalyzing the flow of capital to local food systems. This book serves as a wide-ranging, often irreverent reference on the topic of nurture capital, from global economics to microbes in local soil. We worked closely with author and Slow Money founder Woody Tasch, to create a book that reflects its sustainability-focused contents.

The optical sizes available in GT Sectra (Text, Display and Fine) were all used extensively in this book. Robinson was used for sidenotes and captions.

Soil 2017 uses various weights of Neenah Conservation, a beautiful line of paper that’s 100% postconsumer recycled. Conservation is also exceptionally economical, making it a great choice for projects with limited budgets. We were thrilled that the book’s writing, editing, design, print production, and binding all took place within a five mile radius. Not only is this hyper-local approach analogous to the book’s core proposition, it results in a markedly reduced environmental impact since, typically, a significant portion of a book’s carbon footprint comes from transportation emissions.

Domaine "Les Hautes Roches" (The High Rocks) is a Cru of Tavel, a wine-growing Appellation d'Origine Contrôlée in the southern Rhône wine region of France, across the Rhône River from Châteauneuf-du-Pape AOC and just north of Avignon. Tavel produces nothing but rosé wines. Tavel is one of the few rosé wines that can benefit from aging.

With Louize Display (designed by Matthieu Cortat) Atelier AAAAA designed the layout and illustrated the cover of the poem “Un monde en fragments” by Pierre Barré, the first publication of the young publisher L’Atteinte in Metz. The publisher’s logo uses Totentanz by Yoann Minet.

Arobase Creative were asked to create a label design for a special new craft ale, brewed by Mad Dog Brew Co. in collaboration with Bristol Museums to mark the 200th anniversary of the institution of civil engineers. The new pale ale titled “IKB IPA” is an homage to the work of Isambard Kingdom Brunel, who left his mark on the city of Bristol during the industrial revolution with internationally recognised landmarks such as the Clifton Suspension Bridge, SS Great Britain and Great Western Railway.

We illustrated the iconic landmarks in a simplified geometric line style to reflect the precision and quality of the engineering and create a blueprint aesthetic. To create a bold front of pack we used period typography, loosely inspired by victorian era packaging, and contrasted this with a vibrant sans-serif annotation. The design of the label was adapted for pump clips, coasters and pint glasses.

The period typography in Aerobase's description is Tenez, a typeface created by Plau to be vintage-looking and somewhat reminiscent of Victorian Era, especially of the heavy Didones used in wood type at the end of the 19th century London. The important difference is how organic one can make such wood type reference in the digital era. Paired with Darwin, by Los Andes - an "eclectic assembly of grotesque, geometric and humanistic styles" - it achieves the vintage yet modern look that's very appropriate for a craft beer created for a Museum.

BTL Brands, the independent branding agency for startups, has repositioned Porto-based luxury cashmere company, Milk Cashmere, with a new brand identity as it eyes up the mother and baby market.

BTL Brands built the brand strategy, and created the brand name, logo and personality for the new luxury cashmere brand. The name Milk, previously ‘Melanie Cashmere’, was created to reflect the way rolls of soft cashmere fabric take on a ‘milky’ appearance and nod to the translation of the founder’s surname, ‘Milk Coast’. The brand message, ‘a small touch of kindness’, shines a light on the story of cashmere wool from the farm in Mongolia to the factory in Milan to the fashion store on Madison Ave. The new brand has been applied to website, packaging, social and marketing.

The new brand will launch in spring 2018.

We just sold the project to a client in Amsterdam. So it is not a fictional project anymore.! Yeaaah! Soon it will be available in some stores and will be updating its status as soon as we get more details. For now I've just updating the new images with the new tagline.

DiaTipo is an event about type and graphic design that brings together students, professionals and people interested in the subject. It occurs traditionally every year in São Paulo, and has spread to other Brazilian states.
In 2016, the second edition of DiaTipo took place in Rio Grande do Sul. The event, consisting of workshops and a full day of lectures happened on September 22, 23 and 24 at the UniRitter Master Auditorium in Porto Alegre, for a public of 180 people.

The identity was created using Plau’s Tenez as a display face and TipoType’s workhorse Libertad for text. The kinetic type compositions signaled this would be a fun, dynamic event. The identity was applied in a plethora of surfaces such as name tags, posters, animation and websites.

Hidden Characters is the latest PR offering from international advertising agency network M&CSaatchi. It replaces/is an evolution of Bang PR, developed in response to the changing public relations landscape.

With the advent of social media and the subsequent growth of non-traditional influencers and an increase in inauthentic product placement, Hidden Characters intends to make sure that their client’s reach is handled in an ethical and authentic way.

Sydney-based graphic design studio RE worked to create a brand identity for Hidden Characters that articulates this intention with a concept that makes a connection between the hidden characters that shape how text appears and the creative behind the scenes shaping of a brand’s public perception. The idea of the seen and unseen plays out in a number of ways in print using color, print finish, GT Sectra and LL Brown, and link business cards, headed paper, stationery and brochure.
