Siegfried used in all caps on the German sleeve of an early single by Israeli actress and singer Daliah Lavi (1942–2017). The J here was bereft of its descender, for a more compact line. Posters for the 1975 U.S. release of Emmanuelle, a 1974 French film directed by Just Jaeckin.

It is the first installment in a series of French softcore pornography films based on the novel Emmanuelle. The film stars Sylvia Kristel in the title role about a woman who takes a trip to Bangkok to enhance her sexual experience.

Emmanuelle was distributed in the United States by Columbia Pictures and was their first X rated film. […] The advertising for the film took a highbrow approach to marketing the film opposed to focusing on its exploitative nature. Columbia’s president David Begelman and former Young & Rubicam president Steve Frankfurt developed the tagline for the film “X was never like this.”

The typeface chosen for the title is a film version of Cooper Black Italic, with swash alternates. ITC Souvenir Bold, a similarly soft and heavy face, is used for the slogan. The credits are set in Souvenir Light. The posters were designed by Philip Gips, who passed away this week at 88.

Beaugan is a Japanese sustainable fashion brand specialized in mud-dying as practiced by the people from the Amami Islands for over 1,300 years. By using natural elements, they can keep the Amami’s dyeing technique alIve. Cinematographer Louis Mas directed their last lookbook. Poster design by Soimadou Ibrahim-Aliamane.

The poster typography uses caps from Kessler, with Univers Ultra Condensed for the credits.

The poster of the exhibition Le Jardin Soupiré is made with Victor Moscoso as the titling typeface and ITC Souvenir for smaller text.

The former is based on the 1960s psychedelic poster lettering by Victor Moscoso, which in turn is inspired by Smoke. Both fonts evoke Art Nouveau, or more specially their 70s revivals, which were made due to an interest in Art Nouveau in this decade.

Art Nouveau was deeply linked to grass, blossoms and various gracile shapes and this has a lot to do with the title Jardin Soupiré which means “Garden’s sigh”.

For the past few years, the moody experiments of Turin, Italy-based producer Yves Tumor have evolved rapidly and plummeted deep into uncharted territory. – Tone Madison
