I designed and coded my portfolio website as an art director / designer, using Suisse Int’l, chosen for a clean and neutral aesthetic to let the images take the front.

A 160 page Swiss bound coffee table book designed for Columbia Threadneedle Investments to support the leasing campaign of 21 St James’s Square. Interior photography by Rory Gardiner and portraits by Mark Manzi, the book also features interviews with business owners and royal purveyors who embodied the spirit of St. James’s, among them Jermyn Street perfumers Floris, cheesemongers Paxton & Whitfield and wine merchant Berry Bros & Rudd.

The typography pairs two branches of the SangBleu superfamily by Swiss Typefaces, the seriffed SangBleu Kingdom and the largely serifless SangBleu Sunrise. The 21 St James’s Square logo is set in Gill Sans.

We interviewed a number of people who we believed embodied St James's.

For some, it’s a place. For others, it’s a person or group of people. It’s that pattern on the rug in your parents’ living room, the old wallpaper in the kitchen, or the junk drawer where misplaced items found residency. The song you played to escape for a little while, or the bad family photos that that hung over top of the couch. That cluster of freckles on your best friend’s shoulders and the conversations that you don’t think about often but could never forget. Moments of indescribable joy. Times of isolating hardship. We explored and celebrated those differences in Issue Two of the magazine.

Visual identity by Studio Gangplank for And Architecture, an architectural practice specialising in domestic and commercial projects in Victoria and Queensland.

The AND mark was inspired by three types of windows (Gable: A, Triangle: N, Arch: D). These shapes are a recurring and identifiable feature of the brand, used throughout to frame unique architectural details.⁣ Aperçu Mono was a perfect structural yet characterful typeface accompaniment to this concept.

In September 2019, a call for architectural projects was launched to create a new urban neighborhood and logistic center in the 18th arrondissement of Paris called Chapelle International.

Here is the project designed by Plan Comun and Nicolas Dorval-Bory, commissioned by Nacarat. The submission is divided in three parts: concept, project, and team. République Studio arranged them into three separate booklets. When placed on top of each other, the booklets become one.

Designed with one font in one weight, the inside pages are printed on Mohawk paper and the covers on grey Keycolour with one extra layer of white ink. The booklets are then presented in a custom-made screenprinted box.

Akb Architects is the award-winning, internationally acclaimed, Toronto-based architecture studio of Robert Kastelic and Kelly Buffey. Dedicated to the practice and art of building, their quest to capture the poetic and ineffable qualities of space is what drives and focuses the studio’s design process. The work of Akb Architects has been featured in numerous international publications, including Dezeen, Designlines, Atrium Magazine, and The Globe and Mail.

Engaged by Akb, Vanderbrand developed and executed a comprehensive strategy that refocused the studio in a way that would enhance global brand recognition. Repositioning the studio formerly known as Atelier Kastelic Buffey as Akb Architects provided a modern naming solution that would better reflect their capabilities and purpose. The new brand identity and strategy establishes a sense of clarity, and allows for consistency across various platforms and scales; from digital design to environmental signage.

TT Norms is used for the logo; all text on the website is set in Maison Neue.

The Planets is a 2019 BBC television documentary series (five episodes) about the solar system presented by Professor Brian Cox. The visually spectacular series looks at each planet in detail, using extensive computer-generated imagery and footage from space missions. Brian Cox links the segments with pieces from various desolate locations around planet Earth.

All on-screen text uses Gill Sans. It’s been the BBC’s house typeface for many years, and the association with Gill goes back to the 1930s.

But Gill Sans will soon be leaving the BBC’s orbit. While they’re continuing to use it for their logo, they’ve recently started introducing their own typefaces, Reith Sans and Reith Serif, that are now appearing across their extensive web site, including most of the Planets page. The starry header image manages to avoid using either font, using Gotham instead.

Rising beyond the clouds, high above Toronto’s city skyline, is the city’s most sought-after, award-winning, and internationally-acclaimed residence, One Bloor.

Vanderbrand was approached by Great Gulf to execute a brand and marketing campaign for the exclusive penthouse collection at One Bloor. Having launched in 2008 and awarded the Best International High-Rise Development by International Property Awards in 2015, a fresh approach was required to reimagine the brand for a new and discerning penthouse market.

In addition to the development of a fresh brand identity, Vanderbrand oversaw the creative direction of a photography campaign and produced a limited edition of hard cover photo books with a crisp, clean design.

Through evocative images and storytelling, this publication not only presented the exceptional residences and world-class resort amenities of One Bloor; it also introduced the prestigious neighbourhood of Yorkville to an international readership.

At every touchpoint, the Penthouses at One Bloor brand reflected the residences’ truly elevated offering.

Marquis Towers is a real estate development project in Atlanta, Georgia. The identity was designed by Resource, using an m initial derived from AT Archistency. This modular typeface was made by Zhalgas Kassymkulov in FontStruct in 2013, inspired by Glue. It is paired with Gotham (Hoefler & Co, 2002).

Theodore find solutions in music for agencies and brands, discovering tracks and artists to enhance campaigns through music supervision and licensing. Walking encyclopaedias of music from hip-hop to acid jazz to country, they’ll get it right.

Our new flexible identity references the foundation of all music and the wide reaching knowledge of Theodore. The identity uses one typeface – Suisse Int’l designed by Swiss Typefaces.

The main part of the Flow Machines project is Flow Machines Professional. Flow Machines Professional is an AI assisted music composing system. Using this system, creators can compose melody in many different styles which he wants to achieve, based on its own music rules created by various music analysis. Creators can generate melody, chord, and base by operating Flow Machines. Furthermore, their own ideas inspired by Flow Machines. — flow-machines.com

Erik Herrström and William Oswin used Plaak to design the brand identity and album cover for the world’s first album composed using artificial intelligence, Flow-Machines, developed at Sony’s Computer Science Labs in Paris. Plaak, designed by Damien Gautier, is available from 205TF. Suisse Int’l is used for bits of body copy.

After a careful pre-selection in June 2017, the two architects Manuel Jüni and Beat Buri, short MJ2B, commissioned Atelier Pol with the conception and design of their corporate identity.

The developed grid system based on the logotype/address block defines the uniform design through all applications. The minimalistic typographic approach works without the additional use of a graphic mark and is letterpressed on colored paper. On the website, the numerous award-winning projects interactively share the space with generous typography, which is responsively arranged along the grid system.

Alpine Modern’s quarterly magazine explores architecture and design in mountain regions around the world. The stories and photography express the emerging design ethos of a minimal, refined life entwined with the outdoors.

Studio Banana’s values of sobriety, quality and rationality are all contained in the typography chosen for their rebranding, Suisse Int'l.

Understood both as conclusion and purpose. Their new identity, raw, sober and direct, reveals our solid values, reflects the strength of their personality and makes a creative statement about Studio Banana’s present and future. It evokes an inspiring scenario, perfect to do what they love: craft bespoke solutions through design and let the whole world be our canvas.

Planned Living Architects is located on Australia’s Mornington Peninsula and has an architectural portfolio that shows a sensitivity and responsiveness to the uniqueness of each site, is environmentally-conscientious, materially mindful, beautiful and functional. The studio is well-regarded, has decades of experience and expertise working within coastal and rural areas, is known for its pared-back style, and has a philosophy that is rooted in the fluid connection between the built and natural environment. These principles, considerations, style and expertise are expressed by their new brand identity, created by Melbourne-based design studio A Friend Of Mine, in the font choice and typesetting of logotype, the spacing of an abbreviation, the design and finish of illustration, and the photography of Sean Fennessy and Derek Swalwell.

Patchwork are a small architectural duo based in Wellington, New Zealand. Their architectural style focuses on basic materials to create stunning virtuoso designs, that are expertly assembled and beautifully considered.

Center 18: Music in Architecture: Architecture in Music is the 18th edition in a series published by the Center for American Architecture and Design, a program within the School of Architecture at the University of Texas at Austin.

The academic journal explores the relationship between music and architecture with a series of 19 essays by noted scholars. Our design presents the essays and images in an elegant but straightforward way, employing Acta by Dino dos Santos. The strong use of black and white used throughout the book subtly evokes the keys on a piano.
