This is a freshmen’s guide designed for and by students of the School of Architecture and Urbanism of the Pontifícia Universidade Católica do Paraná –PUCPR, in Curitiba, Brazil. The guide is both a FAQ and a way to encourage new students to seek for culture and not to accept reality as it is but look at it with critical thinking. It was conceived as a folding pamphlet which can be easily transported on a small bag or hang on a wall.

It features a campus map, academic calendar, famous architect’s definition od architecture, good books, movies and websites, academic FAQ, important events and dates and also info about extracurricular activites.

The guide was distributed for free for the Fall (Jan–June) students of 2015 and was produced with the help of some partners.

The iOS and Android game Tabuh uses Fira Sans throughout the app and all its marketing materials. Fira Mono is used for the countdown timer.

The Baltic Film Festival Berlin presents current movies made in Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania. Newmediamen designed the corporate design, posters, flyer, ads, and a website.

During a nine-month program The Work Lab invests in individuals, non-profit, and for-profit ideas to empower low-wage workers and strengthen the middle class economy in the US.

On the corresponding website Antenna for headlines, navigation and short, striking text passages is combined with Whitney for continuous text.

The Apple Watch app that comes bundled with iOS 8.2 (besides being annoyingly impossible to delete) gives us the first preview of how San Francisco might look as an iOS system font. Works for me.

There are still traces of Neue Helvetica in the app — strangely it is used for the small stuff, for which San Francisco is much better suited. But it does offer a comparison of the two families on one screen where it’s easy to see San Francisco’s simplified, more compact forms and looser spacing.

Founded in 1999, brand eins is a German economy magazine that “looks for reasons and contexts.” The branding and design of the magazine has taken on an eclectic visual language that strictly adheres to a typographic palette of Sabon (mostly Regular and Italic) and, occasionally, Futura. Mike Meiré and his studio have been behind the design since the beginning. The magazine’s visual language has grown and adapted to the times yet maintained its own identity throughout.

A-Magasinet, a weekly magazine published by Norwegian newspaper Aftenposten, did recently undergo a total makeover. The magazine is designed and layouted with numerous styles of the Berlingske superfamily from Playtype.

The Museum of Ethnology in Vienna, Austria, changed its visual identity and became the Weltmuseum Wien. The typeface Marat Sans is used for the logo and all printed and digital media.

Strichpunkt is Autostadt’s new corporate communications partner and is also advising on the development of the communications strategy and corporate design. Since January, the Autostadt journal has been produced every two months in Strichpunkt’s Berlin offices, alongside other publications. Strichpunkt won the pitch with a concept that creates a distinctive look for AUTOSTADT, transports it to an open communications platform of the Volkswagen Group with a perspective far beyond the issue of mobility, and also reflects the high-quality standard of the content on a visual level. — strichpunkt-design.de
