Magik is a Marvel Comics character who first appeared in 1975. The current Magik logo seems to have been first used for the comic book Mystic Arcana: Magik #1 in 2007, and continues to be used for the 2025 Magik comic book series.

The logo uses Morpheus, except for the G, which is from Meath FLF. A sword has been added over the M, and the dot of the i has been omitted.

These imaginatively rendered title cards were a high point of each Batman episode. While some (like “Harley’s Holiday” and “Time out of Joint”) were character portraits, most often the cards depicted an emotional impression of the given episode’s theme. According to Eric Radomski, who designed many of the cards, “Going with the overall retro-forties feel we were giving the show, we wanted to treat the episodes as mini-movies. The title cards allowed us to create great drama in a very subtle fashion. It was a process of trying to capture what the overall episode was, and not just show a scene or moment from it.”

Most of the title cards of Batman: The Animated Series’ first season (which first aired in 1992–1993) use fonts that were available from Letraset.

The title treatment for The Fantastic Four: First Steps was first teased in 2024 by Marvel Studios for its feature film scheduled for cinematic screening in 2025.

With the conscious choice to reintroduce adding “the” before “Fantastic” and a nod to the earlier comics of the Fantastic Four series, this main title is typeset in DJR’s Condor Compressed Medium Italic with modified letters F and c in “Fantastic”.

The new number 4 logo design also present on the Fantastic Four hero uniforms takes sole presence, omitting a redundant use of the word “Four” in the titles as they have been presented in the title treatment’s history so far.

Above the main title we see the Marvel logo placed with the word “STUDIOS” set in Jason Walcott's Hooligan JF. Below we see the subtitle “FIRST STEPS” set in a slanted version of Jens Gehlhaar's FF Neuwelt Inline.

The 2025 Superman movie posters use Comicraft’s Ultimatum for credits and taglines, with a slightly modified version for the main logo.

The Batman Forever font was specifically created for the film by Massey Rafani of The Idea Place (the in-house ad agency of Warner Bros.) and Mark van Bronkhorst of MvB Design. It is used in the opening titles of the film, on posters, and in other advertising.

After the main opening titles, further opening credits use Trajan. The end credits of the film use Caxton.

The Batman Adventures was a comic book published by DC Comics from 1992 to 1995, as a tie-in to the cartoon Batman: The Animated Series. The first 16 issues were lettered by Tim Harkins, but starting from issue 17 (dated February 1994, but actually on sale in January), lettering duties were taken over by Richard Starkings of Comicraft.

Dialogue and sound effects are hand-lettered. Titles and credits are in the Lite and Dark weights of Dutch Courage, which were created by Comicraft for The Batman Adventures. Dutch Courage appears to have been inspired by Plaza, which was used for the logo of Batman: The Animated Series.

Poster for Superhero & Superhero, the inaugural show for Texas A&M University’s BFA Theatre program as part of the College of Performance, Visualization, and Fine Arts.

The logo was created using Obviously Variable by OH no Type Co. and printed on a Risograph. The secondary font used was Indoor Kid by David Jonathan Ross.

My Life as a Teenage Robot is an animated science fiction superhero comedy television series created by Rob Renzetti for Nickelodeon. It ran from 2003 to 2009, with reruns running until 2016. The logo uses ITC Anna with modifications. ITC Anna is also the main typeface used for the title cards.

How to Draw Sci-Fi Heroes & Villains is a 2023 guidebook written by Prentis Rollins of DC Comics fame and Jacqueline Ching, aiming to teach beginner artists how to design, draw, and conceptualize science fiction and fantasy heroes and villains.

The main typeface is Ray Larabie’s snazzy yet futuristic Anklepants, paired with an interesting sans serif with geometric proportions: it’s Charles Daoud’s Dual, used with some of its many alternates.

Mutant X was an American television show which ran from 2001 to 2004 for three seasons.

Scientist Adam Kane was a pioneer of genetic research, manipulating DNA to save human lives, but in many cases their genes unexpectedly mutated and they developed superhuman abilities. Together, four of the most powerful fight to protect the world that doesn’t even know they exist.

China was used for the main logo of the show, while the names of the actors appeared in Handel Gothic during title sequences.

Let’s get dangerous! Darkwing Duck, Disney’s superhero parody from the 1990s, made use of Banco for “Darkwing” (with double contour and an enlarged initial with exaggerated features) and Ad Lib for “Duck” (with drop shadow).

In the movie trailer for Venom: The Last Dance, Zombie Punks is deployed for its unconventional aesthetics, giving an edgy look to titles and subheadings in support of the rebellious themes inherent in the film.

The jagged edges and distressed look of Zombie Punks mirror the chaotic world of Venom, emphasising the anti-hero’s inner struggle, with the raw, hand-drawn quality representing Venom’s darker side.

It consciously emulates the visual stylistics of the Walt Disney Pictures live-action film Tron, in the context of a superhero TV series. The series was later shown in reruns on the Sci-Fi Channel.

The Malibu Comics adaptation of the Mortal Kombat video games storyline. For the Goro: Prince of Pain series, the title and subtitle were both written in the Banco typeface. The lettering for “Goro” was modified slightly to be straightened out, while the lettering for “Prince of Pain” is unmodified. This was a three-part miniseries that ran from September to November 1994.

The secondary typeface used for the price info but also for the line “featuring characters …” is another design by Roger Excoffon: Antique Olive Compact. The Mortal Kombat logo is probably custom.

One sheet movie posters for the 1998 superhero horror film Blade, directed by Stephen Norrington and starring Wesley Snipes in the title role. The film is based on the Marvel Comics character of the same name.

The film's title is based on Matrix, with modifications made to the L, A and E. Matrix is also used for the above-title billing, tagline and credit block. Latin Condensed is used for billing text on the last poster presented here.

The posters for the Spider-Man trilogy directed by Sam Raimi use a customized Mata. Shown here are various posters made for the first installment in the superhero series from 2002, starring Tobey Maguire, alongside Kirsten Dunst, Willem Dafoe, and James Franco; produced by Columbia Pictures, Marvel Enterprises, and Laura Ziskin Productions; and distributed by Sony Pictures. The poster designs are credited to Vox and Associates as well as Creative Domain, with photography by Peter Tangen.

The letterforms of Greg Samata’s 1993 design were modified to varying degrees. In addition to the obliquing and the chrome effect that is common to all text, R and Y got shorter spurs (see “FOR” and “MAY”), and the 1 (in “JUNE 14”) a shorter nose. The Spider-Man logo was further customized, with spurs on the top of P and N. The same customized Mata was later reused by Sony for the PlayStation 3 logo.

This Marvel Studios show on Disney Plus uses the font Endless Sunrise by Wingsart Studio to add a retro hand-drawn look to the “She” element of its title design. “Hulk” and “Attorney at law” appear to use Neue Helvetica Bold and Bold Condensed.

House Gothic 23 is paired up with Gotham in this advertisement for DC Nation. From Wikipedia:

DC Nation was a programming block of DC Comics series and shorts that aired on American television channel Cartoon Network on Saturday morning. It premiered on March 3, 2012, and was produced by Warner Bros. Animation.

Atari Force is the name of two comic book series published by DC Comics from 1982 to 1986. Both were loosely based on trademarks of Atari, Inc. This fact file for Commander Martin Champion dates from 1982.

“Atari Force” seems to be set in a filled-in version of Filmotype Veranda (which is itself an outlined version of Filmotype Flyer), “Fact File” is set in Stencil (which was originally released in 1937), and “#1 Commander Martin Champion” is set in ITC American Typewriter Bold. The statistics use a mixture of Data 70 (for the headers), OCR-A (for the information), and MICR (for the numbers used in that area).

According to the credits on the other side of the front cover, Neal Pozner is credited for the design, whilst Gil Kane, Dick Giordano, and Mike DeCarlo are credited for the art.
