This booklet is typeset in LL Unica77 and Antique Legacy. While LL Unica77 was chosen as a sanserif typeface for the collection principle, Antique Legacy was used here in its semibold weight to compose titles and quotations, very tightly, to match with the photographs contrast.

Through the Asian collections of the Musée des Arts Décoratifs), shown from 7th June to 9th July 2023 and curated by Béatrice Quette.

I designed a series of booklets for the museum, with recurrent parameters (format, kind of papers, 2two main typefaces). Each new issue welcomes a new typeface for titles. This one is typeset in Immortel Infra for running text and in NEXT Book for titles. For this one, I also used LL Supreme in its lighter weight to match NEXT Book, only for the page number because those of NEXT Book are too exuberant.

Oldschool Grotesk was used for the exhibition scenography of The Little Prince at Musée des Arts Décoratifs Paris – France’s first major museum show dedicated to the timeless literary masterpiece by Antoine de Saint-Exupéry. Paris based studio Designers Unit developed the exhibition as well as the poster campaign. Bilingual pull quotes from Saint-Exupéry’s writings accompany the individual sections that organize and contextualize the more than 600 items on display. In 2020, the Musée des Arts Décoratifs presented a major exhibition devoted to the famous American fashion magazine Harper’s Bazaar. Sixty couture and ready-to-wear creations, mainly from the museum’s collections, punctuated by loans of prestigious iconic pieces, were presented in correspondence with their publication in the magazine. The work of the great photographers and illustrators who made Bazaar famous is thus put into perspective to summarize a century and a half of fashion history. Baldinger•Vu-Huu was in charge of the signage for the exhibition. In addition, they created the exhibition catalog, composed in BVH Eddi, and HTF Didot as a tribute to the iconic logo.

This book is about Edmond Aman-Jean (1859–1936), a French symbolist painter and one on the main figures of the fin-de-siècle. It was published by the Musée des Arts Décoratifs in Paris in 1970. Nicolas Cochin works well with the work of Aman-Jean because as we can see on this detail on a portrait of the sculptor Jean Dampt, he was familiar of sophisticated letter forms.

This brochure was designed by Anette Lenz for the Museé des Arts Décoratifs (MAD) in Paris. By using the various OpenType sets Anette Lenz shows how versatile the Rektorat typeface can be in one single design. A PDF version of the program is available from the museum’s website.

Trans-missions is the program of the Musée des Arts Décoratifs in Paris, published three times a year. In order to promote French typeface design, each issue of Trans-missions is composed in a different typeface, which is chosen “for the specificity of its design and personality”. The current issue features Thesaurus, designed by Fermín Guerrero at the Haute École d’Art et Design in Geneva, and released earlier this year with Typotheque. Thesaurus is based on types used by the Estienne family in Paris and Geneva in the 16th century.

The booklet utilizes all four weights plus the accompanying italics. Instead of adding the designated Display cuts to her palette, Anette Lenz draws on the Black Italic style for headings and the cover typography, further embellishing it by discretionary ligatures and a few carefully inserted swash caps.

In the summer of 2016 French designer Anette Lenz used Roxane Gataud’s Bely in Trans-missions, the printed program of Musée des Arts Décoratifs (Paris). With the purpose of promoting type design in France, each of the issues of Trans-missions is set using a different typeface which is then presented on the last page of the magazine.
