“Joyeux Noël et allez l’OM” (“Merry Christmas and go OM!”) is a monochrome cyan poster paying tribute to a selection of players who have passed through Olympique de Marseille over the years. Rather than ranking or judging them, the poster treats these figures as part of the club’s collective memory, players who, for better or worse, contributed to shaping its identity.

The typefaces used are Aabak, Mattone, Carta Nueva, and Ronnia.

Immigration et ségrégation spatiale. L'exemple de Marseille is the French re-edition of Migrant Marseille which analyses the impact of migration on the city’s space, urbanism and architecture through a series of case studies. Edited by Marc Angélil, Charlotte Malterre-Barthes and Something Fantastic, this book results from a research project conducted by ETH Zurich Architecture students under the supervision of the authors.

Back in 2013, Marseille was designated as the European Capital of Culture, a label coveted by all European Union cities. A place of intense economic and cultural exchanges between the two shores of the Mediterranean, Marseille occupies a special place in France. The event reduced the distances in the territory, bringing Arles, Salon-de-Provence, Martigues, Aix-en-Provence, Aubagne, and Istres closer together. The partners were committed to creating a large scale, internationally renowned cultural event that promotes the cultural identities of the region through a dialogue between Europe and the Mediterranean. This project aimed to bring together all relevant stakeholders, producing lasting impacts on the cultural, economic, urban, and social aspects of the territory, with the goal of enhancing its international appeal and visibility.

Lyon-based graphic designer Thomas Serrière was in charge of creating the identity for the event. He worked on various mediums, from posters to badges, from signage to flyers, to cover the whole event.

The identity is based on a typographical system. I designed a complete visual language in order to provide the maximum versatility and expression across every channel, format or material. The typeface was developed with André Baldinger, adapting his BVH BDot in which we introduced little “diamonds”. The MP2013 logo itself consists of a very tiny hyphen, linking all the places, events, dates of the capital year.

The logo combines BVH BLine and FF DIN Round. Some applications additionally use FF DIN.

For many years now, the city of Marseille has been brimming with artistic talent from the world of techno music. However, this talent is sometimes underpromoted, due to a lack of structures. A collective with a secret identity has decided to create a web radio station to allow certain DJs and collectives to be propelled and be heard in the middle of the electronic scene. Each episode is filmed, including a set or a live performance plus an interview, allowing everyone to express their opinion on their personal journey and on the local scene. It is then posted on social networks.

For the identity of Massilia Techno Milita Radio, I chose to create a strong symbol to which the members of the collective are particularly attached: anonymity. Bring other aspects to the fore: techno music and the city of Marseille. A raw and provocative territory but warm with a digital touch, an imposing typography and a unique color. A graphic cocktail specific to techno music and the city of Marseille.
